Hong Kong entertainers Zhou Ji Pei and Li Shan Shan are making headlines for their recent health scares, drawing attention to the importance of taking health issues seriously.
Zhou Ji Pei, known for his captivating performances, shared his ordeal after fainting for ten hours due to food poisoning just two days before his concert at the Venetian Macao. On social media, he explained, "I was heavy with fever and gastroenteritis, and after two days of not eating, I was weak and had lost weight to the point of having what they call 'V-face.' Luckily, it didn't significantly impact the concert, and I'm grateful for the support!" He confirmed he only returned to Hong Kong after his fainting episode, grateful for the successful outcome of his performance.
Meanwhile, Li Shan Shan opened up about her severe flu experience during the promotional period for her new show. On January 3, she was hospitalized after suffering from a high fever of 103.5°F (about 39.6°C). "I want to warn everyone about this illness; back when we were kids, we shrugged off colds, believing rest would suffice. Now, if there's any fever, immediate medical attention is necessary, even if you think you're fine!" she shared during her appearance on the program 'Uncle's Love,' hosted by Jin Cheng. Despite intentions to continue her work, her condition forced her to receive urgent care, to the point of needing ICU admission due to complications from pneumonia.
Li described her dire situation when her oxygen saturation levels dropped to 83, prompting the need for supplemental oxygen. "ICU was full, so they arranged for me to use a portable respirator," she recounted. "It took me thirteen days to finally leave the hospital, still shaken by what occurred. I encourage everyone to not underestimate flu season. My strain was type A influenza, which left me all too aware of the seriousness of such illnesses."
Both entertainers have faced their share of challenges. Zhou's incident reminds fans of the importance of health, especially for those involved in demanding professions such as show business. Zhou emphasized the significance of acknowledging one's health state, underscoring, "It’s easy to overlook health issues when you're busy, but it’s just as important to prioritize it."
Li, who previously won the Miss Hong Kong title, also faced struggles with anxiety and the pressures of fame. "Stress can pile on until it becomes overwhelming, especially when you're constantly under the spotlight," she stated. Her battle with health had initially stemmed from the harsh realities of the entertainment industry, where she felt trapped by expectations and public scrutiny.
Li's candidness about her panic attacks back in 2019, and her subsequent path to recovery, resonates with many. "I had to take time off to realize my worth beyond the industry standards. It was important to reclaim my voice and identity beyond just being Li Shan Shan, the entertainer," she reflected.
These health episodes have garnered support from fans and the backdrop of their careers adds depth to their stories. Zhou is back to performing and enjoying life, expressing immense gratitude for his supporters. "Performing again is exhilarating, and I hope to bring joy to others, especially after this challenging episode. It has deepened my appreciation for every concert!"
Li, now back on her feet, has taken her experience to heart and aims to raise awareness about health and wellness among her peers and followers. "If my story can prevent someone from ignoring their health, then it’s worth it. Health cannot be taken for granted; it’s our most prized possession," she urged.
Their combined narratives of struggle and recovery serve as poignant reminders of the unpredictability of health and the necessity of self-care, particularly when one's career demands relentless energy and focus. Zhou Ji Pei and Li Shan Shan are not just entertainers; they’re advocates for health awareness, reminding us all to listen to our bodies and seek help when necessary.
Fans are encouraged to follow their journeys, not only for their artistic gifts but for the lessons they impart about resilience and the power of prioritizing health amid life's chaos.
