HD+ Enhances User Experience With New RTL Content Integration

The updated service allows viewers to catch up on programs from RTL channels for free, broadening their entertainment options.

In a significant stride towards enhancing viewer experience, HD+ has updated its service as of March 19, 2025, enabling users of HD+ satellite and HD+ IP to catch up on missed programming from nine RTL channels. This new catch-up feature allows viewers to watch shows for free for up to seven days after their original broadcast. Users can easily access popular shows from channels like RTL HD, VOX HD, RTLzwei HD, Nitro HD, ntv HD, RTL Up HD, VOX Up HD, Super RTL HD, and Toggo plus HD through the HD+ guide or the app's search function.

With this update, classic RTL shows such as Let’s Dance and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? have prominent placements on the HD+ home screen, making it easier for viewers to find their favorite entertainment. The HD+ TV app also boasts a vast library of previously aired programs from a multitude of German broadcasters, allowing users access to over 120,000 programs free of charge. This service includes not just shows but films, documentaries, and talk shows from more than 100 channels.

One of the crucial enhancements in the HD+ app is its ability to indicate the availability of each program—whether it can be viewed linearly, is in a catch-up library, or accessible via a streaming service. Furthermore, the restart function, which lets viewers start previously begun programs from over 100 channels, significantly boosts the user interface and experience.

“By integrating RTL Deutschland content into our HD+ TV app, we are creating a unified platform where viewers can easily find and access their favorite programs, whether they are free or paid content,” explained Andreas Müller-Vondey, Managing Director of HD Plus. This integration not only enhances convenience but also consolidates viewing options for users.

Additionally, HD+ has been proactive in partnering with other broadcasters to enrich its content offerings. Just recently, the service struck a deal with ProSiebenSat.1, adding its streaming service, Joyn, to the HD+ TV app. This move underscores HD+’s commitment to providing a comprehensive viewing platform that caters to diverse viewer preferences.

As HD+ integrates premium content from RTL+, users can also access selected highlights directly through the HD+ app. Premium highlights are featured prominently on the app's home screen, making it straightforward for viewers to locate and subscribe directly within the RTL+ platform if required.

HD+ is solidifying its position within the competitive landscape of German television by enhancing user engagement, convenience, and content variety. With the integration of RTL+ and the collaborative efforts with ProSiebenSat.1, HD+ is setting new standards for how viewers interact with media in an increasingly digital landscape.

This substantial update exemplifies the ongoing evolution of television services in Germany, where the blend of traditional broadcasting and innovative streaming options is becoming the norm. As viewers increasingly seek flexibility and accessibility in programming, services like HD+ are likely to thrive, meeting the demands of modern television audiences.

Overall, the enhanced features of the HD+ TV app signify a commitment to improving user experience, increasing the diversity of available content, and ensuring that viewers have immediate access to their favorite shows, games, and series. These advancements are set to make HD+ a go-to choice for many television enthusiasts in Germany.
