On February 1, 2025, the Hanshin Tigers baseball team proudly announced two key developments significant to the organization: the new uniforms for the TigersGirls cheerleading squad and the arrival of Dominican player Stanley Consuegra.
The TigersGirls will debut their fresh uniforms during the spring training camp at Ginoza on February 1. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Hanshin Tigers, and their new attire reflects this milestone with vibrant team colors. The uniforms transition from the traditional yellow to showcase a gradient effect, blended with black accents to symbolize both freshness and strength.
Nonoa, the captain of the TigersGirls, shared her enthusiasm about the new design, stating, "We have created uniforms worthy of this commemorative year with white, black, and the eye-catching gradient yellow. Our team aims to deliver performances as dazzling as the rhinestones on our outfits." Notably, the uniforms will feature the logo celebrating the 90th anniversary prominently on the tops, emphasizing the importance of this historical moment for the Tigers.
Alongside Nonoa, teammate Momo expressed her excitement, highlighting the balance of strength and delicacy the new uniforms represent. She described them as graceful, with frills and sparkling details, promising to add elegance to their performances, making the season stand out at Koshien Stadium.
“We will aim to bring passion and vibrancy to the stadium, especially during this important year for the Tigers,” Momo added.
Meanwhile, the team also welcomed Stanley Consuegra, who held his first press conference upon joining the Tigers. Only 24 years old and from the Dominican Republic, Consuegra shared his astonishment at the number of fans present and expressed his happiness about joining such a renowned team.
During the press conference, he reflected on what he felt when he first interacted with his new teammates: "Although I haven’t spoken much with everyone yet, they have made every effort to come to me and initiate conversations. This has been very encouraging," he said.
Consuegra's impressions of Japanese baseball were also noteworthy, indicating his admiration for the high attendance of fans at games, which he found motivating. He acknowledged the Tigers' reputation for consistently striving for championships, stating, "I've always heard about this team competing for titles, and I feel honored to be part of such an esteemed organization."
When discussing his expectations for living in Japan, Consuegra expressed eagerness to explore cultural aspects, such as its culinary delights—especially sushi. “I’ve had sushi back home, but I’m eager to see how it varies here,” he remarked.
Consuegra, who is currently on a developmental contract, emphasized the importance of maintaining his health throughout the season as it would be fundamental for achieving his larger goals. He stated, "Staying healthy will greatly influence my ability to contribute to the team. If I put forth my best effort day by day, I trust the results will come."
He extended his message of support to the Tigers fans, saying, "Please keep cheering for the Tigers. I look forward to the opportunity to play before you and promise to give my all each time I step onto the field."
With the introduction of the new uniforms and the excitement surrounding Consuegra’s arrival, it's clear the Hanshin Tigers are aiming to bring renewed energy and passion to the 2025 season. Cheers of ardent fans, dazzling performances from the TigersGirls, and the contributions of fresh talent like Consuegra suggest vibrant times lie ahead for this storied baseball franchise.
