"We are in the middle of a press tour. We got a movie coming out in 12 days? Six, something? We’re focused on that," Steinfeld shared, emphasizing the excitement surrounding the film's release.
In her role as Mary, Steinfeld delves into her own family history, discovering deeper connections to her heritage. "I would say, I learned a lot about myself through Mary, and even more about my family history," she revealed. She expressed a heartfelt sentiment regarding her grandfather, who is half Black, saying, "I wish every day, because of this movie, and for so many other reasons—I could call and ask him all the questions… I would absolutely do that if he were here."
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners marks the fifth collaboration between Coogler and Jordan, who plays twin brothers Smoke and Stack. Jordan recalled his initial reactions to seeing the characters on screen, saying, "I was hyped! I yelled out an audible, ‘Whoo!'" He described the process of developing the twin brothers' dynamic as both challenging and enjoyable, stating, "It was pretty challenging, but a lot of fun as well, getting the chance to develop… twin brothers, their dynamic and the work we did to develop how they walk and how they talk and their mannerisms… it was challenging, but it was good."
Wunmi Mosaku, another prominent cast member, highlighted the film's depth beyond the horror genre. "You’ll come out with thoughts, lessons, questions, answers that have nothing to do with vampires… there’s a whole lot of heart," she told "Extra."
