The Ha Tinh Province's Provincial People’s Committee has announced the auction of sand extraction sites, targeting nearly 265,000 cubic meters of sand. Intended to support large-scale construction projects, the starting price for the auction is set at approximately 15.2 billion dong.
This latest auction covers two primary sites for sand extraction located within Ky Anh City. The first auction point includes material dredged from the border area with approximately 143,775 cubic meters of road base sand (first layer) and additional mixed soil volume of 26,267 cubic meters. The total volume at this location reaches nearly 170,042 cubic meters with bidding starting at over 27.4 billion dong, requiring bidders to deposit 5 billion dong.
The second auction point consists of sand dredged from the Ninh Cup Boi docking area and materials from the waste disposal site of Growbest Ha Tinh Company, totaling over 94,875 cubic meters. This site bears the starting price close to 15.2 billion dong with a deposit of 3 billion dong and minimum bidding steps of 75.9 billion dong.
The auction is scheduled to proceed through indirect voting methods priced from lowest to highest, and will be open from February 28 until March 11, 2025. Price announcements are expected to occur on March 14, 2025. Officials outlined the expected rush of bidders, as these resources are necessary for local infrastructural development.
A representative from the Department of Environment and Agriculture of Ha Tinh Province noted, "The sand areas resulted from dredging projects within Ky Anh City...there are significant constructions happening at Vung Ang economic zone which require vast quantities of earth and sand for leveling." This clarifies the urgency behind the bidding initiative as the local government seeks to meet construction demands.
The outcome of past auctions has set precedence for both the provincial government and potential investors focusing on mineral resource management, as successful bidder collaborations come with the responsibility of fostering local economic growth. This upcoming auction could replicate the interest and competitive spirit seen previously, which is indicative of the market trends and the province's developmental strategies.
The urgency surrounding sand extraction aligns with broader trends within Vietnam, where the demand for construction materials has surged, driven by rapid urbanization and industrial growth. With strong governmental backing, the sand extracted from these sites is not only pivotal for local projects but is also reflective of Vietnam’s broader economic health.
All eyes will be on the Ha Tinh auction as it approaches the closing date for bids, showcasing both the provincial ambitions for growth and the opportunities for local businesses. With the right investments and bidding strategies, this could signal a new chapter for resource management within the region, contributing to the sustainable infrastructure projects lined up for the coming years.
