Gowa Aims For Nindya Child-Friendly District Status

Local government leaders unite to enhance child welfare initiatives in Gowa

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, Sekretaris Daerah Kabupaten Gowa, Andy Azis, led a significant Coordination Meeting for the Implementation of the Child-Friendly District (KLA) at Hotel Aryaduta in Makassar. This two-day meeting involved various government and community stakeholders, all focused on Gowa's ambition to elevate its KLA status to the Nindya category by the end of the year.

Following the successful achievement of the Madya category in 2024, the Gowa Regency Government is determined to improve its standing further. During the initial verification conducted by the KLA assessment team from South Sulawesi Province, Kabupaten Gowa amassed over 900 points, a testament to its ongoing efforts. However, Andy Azis emphasized the need for collaboration among all parties involved in the KLA Task Force to ensure that Gowa meets all required indicators.

"I urge all SKPD members involved in the KLA Task Force to unify their perspectives, work diligently, and prepare all necessary documents for the verification process by the central assessment team," stated Azis, who also chairs the KLA Task Force for Kabupaten Gowa.

As the meeting progressed, Kawaidah Alham, the head of the DP3A Kabupaten Gowa, underscored the importance of addressing specific areas that require improvement. Despite the initial high score, it was noted that the points had dipped to around 930 due to incomplete documentation and other technical requirements that still needed attention.

"We need serious commitment from everyone involved. Some indicators still require enhancement, including the completion of activity documents. This is crucial to avoid hindering the central verification process later on," Kawaidah explained.

The coordination meeting was attended by a diverse group of participants, including leaders from SKPD and Perusda within the Gowa Regency Government, representatives from non-governmental organizations, the Chairman of Commission IV of the Gowa DPRD, Forkopimda representatives, camat, youth organizations, women's organizations, and the Fahasta Tamallajjua Gowa Children's Forum.

As the meeting concluded, Andy Azis expressed optimism about Gowa's prospects. "I hope that during this coordination meeting, all preparations for the subsequent verification phase can proceed smoothly. Let us aim to fulfill all 24 indicators needed to achieve the Nindya KLA category this year," he remarked.

The commitment to becoming a Child-Friendly District is not just a bureaucratic goal; it represents a broader vision to enhance the quality of life for children in the region. This initiative aligns with national objectives to create environments where children can thrive, supported by comprehensive policies and community engagement.

As Gowa continues to work towards this goal, the focus remains on collaboration among various sectors, ensuring that every child’s needs are met through effective governance and community involvement. The journey towards achieving Nindya status is seen as a collective responsibility, one that requires the active participation of all stakeholders.

In conclusion, Kabupaten Gowa is on a promising path to achieving its KLA goals, driven by strong leadership and community collaboration. The commitment shown during the recent coordination meeting reflects a shared determination to enhance the welfare of children, ensuring they grow up in a supportive and nurturing environment.
