Governor Visits Fire Victims In Satun Province

Authorities provide essential aid to families affected by fire and earthquake relief efforts continue in Myanmar.

On May 7, 2025, Mr. Sakkra Kapilkanchan, the Governor of Satun Province, along with Thaworn Sukiratikanchan, visited the area affected by a recent fire in Khuan Khanun District, Satun Province. This visit was part of their commitment to provide assistance and support to those affected by the disaster. The fire incident occurred on May 4, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., at the home of Mr. Kodech Kasman, located at house number 169, Village No. 1, Tambon Khuan Khanun.

The blaze, which was initially reported by the local disaster prevention and mitigation office, caused significant damage to the two-story house, including the loss of electrical equipment and various electronic devices. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit.

During the visit, Governor Kapilkanchan and Sukiratikanchan distributed relief packages containing essential daily items and initial financial assistance to Mr. Kasman and his family. "We are here to provide support and encouragement to help you rebuild your life after this unfortunate event," Governor Kapilkanchan stated, emphasizing the importance of community solidarity in times of crisis.

The local community, including Mr. Sitthiporn Innimit, the district chief, and various local leaders, joined the governor in providing support and encouragement to the affected family, showcasing a united front in the face of adversity.

This relief effort is part of the broader mission of the Satun Province and the Thai Red Cross Society, which aims to assist citizens during emergencies. The authorities have integrated their efforts with relevant local agencies to devise a long-term recovery plan, ensuring that those affected can return to normalcy as swiftly as possible.

Furthermore, on the same day, the Thai Red Cross Society announced the dispatch of 7 tons of relief supplies to Myanmar to assist those affected by a recent earthquake in Mandalay. The relief supplies included Thai Red Cross relief bags, hygiene kits, blankets, mosquito nets, clothes, and other basic necessities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Air Force facilitated the transport of these supplies. This delivery follows an earlier shipment of 1 ton of relief supplies sent on April 5, 2025, along with an initial cash assistance of USD 20,000 provided to the Myanmar Red Cross Society on April 22, 2025.

The Thai Red Cross Society has been proactive in responding to the needs of those affected by natural disasters across the region, demonstrating its commitment to humanitarian aid and support for those in distress.

As communities in both Thailand and Myanmar face the consequences of natural disasters, the solidarity and cooperation among local and national authorities, as well as humanitarian organizations, play a crucial role in providing relief and rebuilding efforts. The ongoing support reflects a collective responsibility to assist those in need and restore hope in the aftermath of calamity.

In conclusion, the swift response from both the Satun provincial authorities and the Thai Red Cross Society illustrates the importance of community support and international solidarity in the face of challenges. As recovery efforts continue, the focus remains on restoring lives and ensuring that those affected can find strength and resilience to rebuild.
