Google has recently launched a significant update to its Gmail service, aimed at enhancing user experience by improving email search functionality. This new feature leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) to refine how emails are displayed based on user search queries. With this update, Gmail will consider factors such as recency, the most-clicked emails, and frequent contacts, resulting in a more intuitive and efficient search experience.
Previously, Gmail displayed emails in chronological order based solely on keywords. However, the latest modification allows users to find the emails they are looking for much faster. According to a blog post by Google, “With this update, the emails you’re looking for are far more likely to be at the top of your search results—saving you valuable time and helping you find important information more easily.”
Alongside the AI-driven improvements, Google has introduced a toggle feature, enabling users to switch between viewing “Most relevant” emails and “Most recent” emails in their search results. This toggle caters to users who prefer the traditional chronological display of their emails, thus providing a customizable search experience.
This update is being rolled out globally for users with personal Google accounts and is accessible both on the web and within the Gmail app available for Android and iOS devices. In a future initiative, Google plans to extend this functionality to business users, further enhancing email efficiencies across various sectors.
In another stride towards enhancing its AI offerings, Google’s Gemini app has recently introduced an innovative feature allowing users to generate audio summaries from Deep Research reports. Launched on March 22, 2025, this feature transforms detailed written reports into a podcast-like format, making use of two AI-generated hosts.
The Gemini app previously featured this capability in its AI note-taking application, NotebookLM, last September. Building upon that foundation, the audio summary feature is designed to offer an engaging way for users to interact with their research outputs. As noted in reports, the new audio feature allows users to convert presentations and documents into lively dialogues, enhancing user interaction with generated content.
The audio summary functionality is available to all Gemini users, including both free and Advanced subscribers. Users can simply choose the “Generate Audio Overview” option after completing a report to hear an audio summary based on their research. This enhancement aims to make the research process more interactive and engaging, positioning Google as a frontrunner in user-friendly AI technology.
Both updates reflect Google's commitment to innovation and its focus on enhancing user experience across different platforms. As AI technology continues to evolve, Google appears dedicated to refining its tools to meet the needs of its users.
