Google Gmail Expands Features To Include New Languages

Google is expanding the capabilities of its AI tools across its Workspace apps, particularly in Gmail, which is set to receive significant enhancements. Starting on March 24, 2025, Gmail’s Help Me Write feature, powered by the Gemini AI platform, will now support Italian, French, and German languages. This addition complements the existing language support for English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

This rollout will take place gradually across the web and mobile platforms, with iOS users receiving the new features on March 25, 2025. The Help Me Write tool provides functionalities that allow users to draft, refine, and formalize email messages with ease. It can generate comprehensive drafts based on user prompts, modify the tone of messages, and enhance the clarity and detail of written communication.

By leveraging contextual information from previous messages, Help Me Write offers tailored replies that can save users considerable time when navigating lengthy email threads or crafting communications for clients. With this broad enhancement, Google aims to cater to its diverse global user base, making it easier for users to communicate in their preferred languages.

Users across multiple Google Workspace tiers, including Business Starter, Standard, and Plus, as well as Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus, will have access to the new language features. Subscribers to Google One AI Premium, and individuals who have purchased the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-ons will also benefit from this development. Additionally, users who previously bought the Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-ons, which were discontinued as of January 15, 2025, will also gain access.

Meanwhile, Google is not stopping there; the tech giant is also rolling out Gemini Live's real-time video and screen sharing capabilities for Gemini Advanced subscribers. This feature has been long anticipated since it was previewed during Google I/O 2024 as part of Project Astra. According to reports, users are already gaining access to Gemini Live on compatible devices, with initial sightings noted on a Xiaomi phone. This expansion was confirmed by Google and adds to the features available for users under their Google One AI Premium subscription, which costs about $20 per month.

Gemini Live is designed to facilitate interactions where users can share live video and their phone screens while engaging in natural, conversational queries about their environment. Upon activating Gemini Live, users will see options to share either a screen capture or engage in a live screen share as they converse with the platform. Pixel phones and the new Galaxy S25 lineup will be among the first devices to receive these capabilities, promising a robust platform for dynamic exchanges.

The rollout of this video and screen-sharing feature aligns with Google's strategy to enhance its offerings under the Gemini brand. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, Google showcased these innovative Gemini Live features, which are expected to transform how users interact with their devices.

Current Google Pixel 9 users might see additional perks, as new purchases often come with free trials for various features, including Gemini Live's screen sharing and live video capabilities. Google indicated that the rollout of the new functionalities would prioritize newer Android devices, ensuring an optimal user experience with the latest technology.

As Google enhances its data policies for Gemini Live, the company assures users that their audio, video, and screen share data will be stored according to their privacy settings in Gemini Apps Activity. Users can manage this data, including deleting it, in line with their preferences.
