Google Enhances Gemini AI With New Features For Workspace

Gemini AI now supports image generation and chart creation across multiple languages and applications.

Google has officially rolled out its Gemini AI enhancements across its Workspace applications, marking a significant upgrade to its productivity tools. This advancement not only paves the way for more dynamic user interactions but also demonstrates Google's commitment to integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies seamlessly within their platforms.

Among the noteworthy features is Gemini's ability to generate charts and graphs directly from text data. These visualizations, which will act as static images, can be easily inserted by users. According to The Verge, this feature will be included within the Google One AI package for $20 per month, available starting February 20, 2025. This capability enables users to create visuals effortlessly by running Python code to analyze data, along with the use of standard spreadsheet formulas for simpler queries.

Traditionally, Gemini has been associated with basic tasks, such as recommending how to manage spreadsheets and assisting with document preparation. With this enhancement, users can now employ Gemini to create powerful visual representations of their data. Nevertheless, Google advises caution; because these AI-generated images are static, users will have to request new visuals every time they update their datasets. This may lead to consideration of more conventional methods for projects requiring real-time data representation.

Alongside chart generation, Google's renewed focus on Gemini reflects its ambition to expand AI capabilities. Following its recent integration within the Samsung Galaxy S25, the Gemini AI has also been updated to support image generation across seven additional languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Previously, users could only create images through Gemini's side panel assistance using English.

This broadening of Gemini's functionalities is not just about image creation. It encompasses features like drafting email replies in Gmail, summarizing content within Google Docs and Sheets, and assisting users with Drive folders without the need to open them. This means users can operate more efficiently, with Gemini helping to streamline common tasks and reduce redundant effort.

For Galaxy S25 and Pixel 9 Pro owners, Google is offering six and twelve months of free access, respectively, to the Google One AI Premium plan, which normally retails for $19.99 per month. This subscription includes 2TB of cloud storage alongside access to advanced AI features. The latest enhancements position both devices favorably within the competitive smartphone market by coupling superior hardware capabilities with sophisticated AI tools.

The two new devices represent distinct entries within Google's lineup. The Pixel 9 Pro adds to its premium offerings with features akin to those found on the flagship Pixel 9 Pro XL, serving the high-end market. Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy S25 boasts impressive specifications, integrating the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB RAM, ensuring users receive high performance without sacrificing portability.

Overall, Google's expansion of its Gemini technology signifies a pivotal shift toward more integrated and accessible AI features, making workspace productivity smarter and more adaptable for users who demand efficiency and creativity from their tools.
