The upcoming holidays will bring significant changes to the schedule of public offices and services across Goiás, as residents prepare to celebrate both Christmas and New Year's. A decree issued by Governor Ronaldo Caiado has established new operational hours and closures for various public services, ensuring residents are informed about how their access to these services will be affected.
According to the announcement made on December 2, 2024, public institutions will undergo operational changes particularly on December 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31, as well as January 1 of the following year. Residents are encouraged to adjust their plans accordingly to navigate these changes smoothly.
Starting with the Vapt Vupt service units, these will maintain normal operations on December 23, providing residents with access to various bureaucratic needs. Significantly, the units will be closed on December 24 and 25, reopening on December 30. It's important to note, during this time, citizens can still access certain services online, ensuring they remain connected even during the holiday hiatus.
The Department of Traffic of Goiás (Detran-GO) will also follow suit with changes to its schedule. The main offices, along with Circular Regional Traffic Units (Ciretrans), will be closed from December 23 through December 25, and again from December 30 to January 1. For those needing assistance, numerous services remain available via the Detran GO ON app and their official website, providing digital solutions during the closure period.
The Procon-GO, the state consumer protection agency, will suspend its services from December 23 through December 25. Consumer complaints and inquiries can still be directed through their online platform, Procon Web, allowing residents to file grievances even when physical offices are not operating.
On agricultural and food supply fronts, the Central Supply of Goiás (Ceasa) will operate during limited hours. On December 23 and 24, Ceasa will service consumers from 3 AM to 2 PM, closing on Christmas Day. The following week, on December 30 and 31, they will resume operations but will once again be closed on January 1.
Food access won’t suffer as much at the Restaurante do Bem network, which will keep its doors open on December 24 and 31, providing meals during the holidays. It's important for patrons to note, though, they will be closed on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
While many public services cease during the holidays, Saneago, the state sanitation company, ensures uninterrupted water and sewage services throughout this period. Their customer service will remain available 24/7 via multiple channels, including their hotline and WhatsApp, allowing residents to report any issues or seek assistance during the festive season.
Finally, cultural spaces managed by the state’s culture department will close beginning December 21 and remain shut until December 26. This includes prominent venues such as the Teatro Goiânia, various cultural centers, museums, and libraries. Residents interested in cultural activities will need to plan around these closures, which aim to observe the holiday spirit.
With all these adjustments, it’s clear the government is striving to accommodate the festive season and help citizens organize their holiday plans effectively. By considering these changes, residents can avoid inconveniences and have smooth access to necessary services.
