The move has already seen positive responses, with approximately 120 to 150 ticket bookings reported for the first flights. Previously, tickets from Mangaluru Central to Madgaon cost ₹150, but with the new changes effective March 1, the fare drops to ₹85, providing passengers substantial savings.
Railway officials confirmed the fare reductions across several routes. For example, the fare from Karwar has decreased from ₹125 to ₹75, and from Kundapura from ₹60 to ₹30. This is aimed at restoring rail services for commuting workers and students, making it easier for local residents to connect with nearby destinations.
