Ferne McCann and Binky Felstead showcased their glamorous sides as they celebrated Mother’s Day at Ascot's Spring Family Raceday on Sunday, March 30, 2025. The former star of TOWIE, Ferne, 34, turned heads in a stylish cream buttoned-up dress featuring thick straps and a plunging neckline. She completed her look with modest brown slingback heels, adding a touch of elegance to her petite frame. Accompanying Ferne were her fiancé Lorri Haines and their daughter Finty, who is 20 months old, along with her six-year-old daughter, Sunday.
Meanwhile, Binky Felstead, known for her role in Made In Chelsea, looked equally chic in a cream double-breasted jacket cinched at the waist. She paired the jacket with wide-leg trousers and black leather boots, embodying sophistication. Binky was joined by her husband Max Fredrik Darnton and their children—son Wilder, 23 months, son Wolfie, three, and daughter India, from her previous relationship with Joshua 'JP' Patterson.
Ferne’s outing at the races comes shortly after she took to social media to advocate for breastfeeding. Earlier this month, she revealed that she is still breastfeeding her daughter Finty, encouraging other mothers by stating that there is no 'normal' when it comes to breastfeeding. In a heartfelt post, she shared a sweet photo of herself feeding Finty, captioning it: "Haven’t posted about my breastfeeding journey in a while, but I still get a lot of people asking if I’m still doing it. In complete honesty, I’ve been a bit nervous to share about it lately. Even though I’m such a big advocate for breastfeeding, the truth is, I’ve been afraid of what people might think or say now that Finty is 20 months old. I just want you to know…there are plenty of mums still doing it. Keep going, mamma. However it looks do your normal."
As Ferne enjoyed the races, she carried her youngest child, Finty, on her hip, embracing the festive atmosphere while surrounded by family. Binky, too, was seen cradling her youngest, Wilder, as they watched the horses make their way around the track, highlighting the family-friendly nature of the event.
Ferne welcomed Finty with Lorri Haines in July 2023, having previously raised her daughter Sunday as a single parent. On her social media platform, she has often reflected on the challenges of her breastfeeding journey, expressing gratitude for the support she has received. In an Instagram post from August 2024, she wrote: "The subject of this year’s World Breastfeeding Campaign, ‘Closing the Gap and Support for All,’ has made me realise that I wouldn’t be where I am with my breastfeeding journey if it weren’t for the support from others. It has taken a whole football team to reach the point where we are now. Lack of support is one of the main reasons why mothers don’t continue. It’s vital!"
Ferne's advocacy for breastfeeding has been particularly poignant given the low rates of breastfeeding in the UK. She previously lamented the statistics showing that the UK has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world, urging her followers to seek support and even offering her inbox for those needing help with their own journeys. She emphasized, "Breastfeeding isn’t an option for some mums (and it is such a personal decision!), but it’s really sad to know that one of the biggest hurdles for mums wanting to give it a try is lack of support."
In addition to the glamorous outing of Ferne and Binky, the Ascot Racecourse also hosted an annual bake-off competition on Thursday, March 20, 2025, where 45 students from 15 schools showcased their culinary talents. The competition, known as the Ascot Racecourse Supports & 1711 Bake-Off, featured teams that designed, created, baked, decorated, and presented their treats under the theme "Picnic at Ascot." Each team was tasked with using locally sourced ingredients and creating mood boards that reflected their journey from sourcing to decoration.
Judges for the event included 1711 executive chef Gemma Amor, managing director of 1711, guest judge Jonathan Parker, and chef pâtissier Benoit Blin. During the competition, special guest Alexander Barfield, the High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire, addressed the audience. King’s Academy Easthampstead Park in Bracknell secured the title in the Senior category, with Slough & Eton CofE School as the runners-up. In the Junior category, Ascot Heath Primary School took the top spot, with Holy Trinity CofE Primary School in Cookham finishing as runners-up.
The winning teams from both categories will have their creations featured on the menu at the Summer Mile Family Raceday on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Laura Elston, a teacher at Ascot Heath Primary School, praised her students for their teamwork and passion, stating, "Our finalists, Evelyn, Andrew, and Elliot worked so well as a team, fulfilled the brief given to them, and demonstrated passion when delivering their pitches."
Jacqui Greet, corporate social values manager at Ascot Racecourse, noted the impressive backstories behind the picnic items selected, emphasizing the effort put into each entry. The bake-off not only highlights the culinary skills of young students but also promotes community engagement and the use of local ingredients.
As the day unfolded at Ascot, both the glamorous mothers and the budding bakers showcased the vibrant spirit of the community, blending family fun with culinary creativity. With events like these, Ascot continues to be a hub for both entertainment and education, fostering a sense of togetherness among residents and visitors alike.
