Ghibli's How Do You Live Set For TV Premiere

The latest Miyazaki film to debut on Nippon TV with special programming

Studio Ghibli's latest animated film, "How Do You Live," directed by the renowned Hayao Miyazaki, is set to make its television debut on May 2, 2025, during Nippon TV's "Kinyo Roadshow" at 9:00 PM. This marks a significant moment as it will be the first time the film is broadcast on terrestrial television since its release on July 14, 2023.

Before the film airs, a special program will be featured starting at 8:02 PM, which will delve into the making of the film and highlight memorable scenes from various Studio Ghibli works. The special program aims to build excitement for viewers, showcasing interviews with the cast and production team.

The film follows Mahito, a young boy who is mysteriously guided by a heron into another world set against the backdrop of World War II in Japan. This fantasy narrative has captured the hearts of audiences and critics alike, marking Miyazaki's first feature film in nearly a decade since "The Wind Rises" in 2013.

Notably, the cast of "How Do You Live" includes talented actors such as Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda, Kou Shibasaki, Aimi, and Takuya Kimura, among others. The special program will include behind-the-scenes stories, including Masaki Suda's experiences during the voice recording sessions for his character, the Blue Heron/Heron Man.

In addition to the film and special program, the morning information show "ZIP!" will also celebrate Studio Ghibli on the same day with a segment dedicated to the studio's iconic works. This will include interviews with producer Toshio Suzuki, singer Kenshi Yonezu, and art director Youji Takeshige, who contributed to the film's production.

Furthermore, a Ghibli special will air on April 29, 2025, at 3:55 PM, providing viewers with insights into the film's story and characters, as well as a retrospective of Miyazaki's illustrious career.

The special program will also explore the significance of food in Ghibli films, featuring a segment on Himi's jam bread from "How Do You Live". This focus on culinary elements is part of a broader exploration of how Ghibli portrays food in its storytelling.

Moreover, the Ghibli Park's ongoing exhibition, "Drawing What You Eat," will be highlighted, showcasing the studio's meticulous attention to detail in depicting food. The exhibition is currently being held at Ghibli's Grand Warehouse in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

Additionally, the program will feature a segment on the various creatures that inhabit Ghibli films, including beloved characters like Totoro, Catbus, and the Blue Heron, further enriching the viewing experience for fans.

As anticipation builds for the film's television debut, fans are encouraged to tune in early to catch the special program and immerse themselves in the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli. With its blend of fantasy, adventure, and heartfelt storytelling, "How Do You Live" promises to captivate audiences once again.
