Germany's Abor And Tynna Steal The Show At Eurovision Rehearsals

The sibling duo showcases their performance of "Baller" ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

The excitement is building for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 as the final day of second rehearsals unfolds today in Basel, Switzerland. This year, Germany is represented by the sibling duo Abor & Tynna, who have captured attention with their vibrant performance of the song "Baller." The duo, whose real names are Attila and Tünde Bornemisza, have a rich musical background that has helped them carve out a niche in the competitive landscape of Eurovision.

Abor, the cellist, and Tynna, the flutist, have been influenced by their father, a professional cellist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Their journey began in 2016 when they started posting their musical creations on SoundCloud, quickly gaining traction in family gatherings before they took their talents to stages across major European cities such as Vienna, Berlin, and Hanover. Their unique collaboration has seen Abor take charge of rhythm composition and arrangement, while Tynna infuses the lyrics and vocals with emotional depth, creating a sound that resonates with audiences.

In the lead-up to the Eurovision contest, Germany's second rehearsal showcased a striking evolution from their national final performance. Abor opened the act with a classical introduction on a sleek white electric cello adorned with LED lights, setting an atmospheric tone. As the bass kicked in, a dramatic curtain dropped to reveal Tynna atop a massive, 80s-style boombox that stood about three meters high. This eye-catching setup allowed her to deliver the first verse and chorus in a commanding manner.

Joining Tynna were four dancers who illuminated her performance with handheld spotlights, creating a dynamic visual experience. Tynna's outfit was a bold blend of Lara Croft and Berlin rave culture, featuring black military-style hotpants, knee-high military boots, a black crop top, and elbow-length ruched leather gloves. The staging was further enhanced by pulsing white and blue strobes and vivid graphics that prominently displayed the word "BALLER" on a flashing LED wall. An echo effect on Tynna's vocals during the chorus added to the energetic atmosphere, reminiscent of a lively warehouse party.

As the performance reached its climax, Tynna danced along a walkway while Abor showcased his skills on top of the boombox, donning what are arguably the largest shoulder pads seen at Eurovision 2025. Notably absent this year was the traditional cello-smashing finale, which has characterized past performances. Instead, the act concluded with an explosive boombox break, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display that left the audience in awe.

Germany's dress rehearsal is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, 2025, where they will present their song for the Second Semi-Final. Fans are eagerly awaiting further details on their final staging, and more updates about Europe’s favorite music festival can be found on Eurovisionfun's social media channels.

Meanwhile, the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 features 16 countries, all of which have completed their second round of rehearsals. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has released exclusive clips showcasing 30 seconds of each performance, allowing viewers a sneak peek before the contest. As the rehearsals progressed, the betting odds for qualification in Semi-Final Two have seen significant shifts, reflecting the market's reaction to the new footage.

The latest odds indicate that Finland is leading with a 94% chance of qualification, followed closely by Austria and Israel, both at 93%. Malta has made notable gains, now sitting at 84%, while Czechia has also increased its odds to 82%. Australia has emerged as the biggest riser, gaining four percentage points and climbing two places to become the sixth favorite to qualify. On the other hand, Greece has lost ground, dropping four percentage points and falling to the eighth position.

As the competition heats up, the race for the final spots in the grand final is tightening. Luxembourg currently leads the pack in the competitive zone, having moved up in the rankings, while Armenia has slipped back to 14th place. The battle for the 10th spot is particularly fierce, with Ireland and Serbia closely contending. Princ from Serbia has lost two percentage points, now only six points ahead of Emmy from Ireland, making the outcome uncertain.

The 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Basel on May 13, 15, and 17, 2025. This year's event is particularly significant as Switzerland is hosting after Nemo's victory at the 2024 contest with their song "The Code," which scored an impressive 591 points, marking Switzerland's first win since 1988.

As the final day of rehearsals unfolds, excitement is palpable among fans and participants alike. The atmosphere in Basel's St. Jakobshalle arena is electric as the six automatic qualifiers return for their final run-throughs. Each country will have 20 minutes to perfect their performances, with the EBU releasing teaser clips throughout the day. With the competition just around the corner, fans are encouraged to share their thoughts and predictions as they await the grand event.
