A Georgia health care worker was arrested for allegedly dancing suggestively on the heads of disabled patients in two viral TikTok videos, prompting widespread outrage and scrutiny.
Lucrecia Kormassa Koiyan, 19, of Loganville, faces serious charges after videos surfaced showing her grinding on the head of a shirtless man sitting in a bathtub, and dancing provocatively over another disabled man sitting helplessly.
According to the Loganville Police Department, one of these videos features Koiyan reaching for a pill box and placing medication directly in the man’s mouth. The disturbing displays of lewd dancing were reported to the authorities on January 23, leading to swift police action.
Loganville Police Chief M.D. Lowry expressed his horror, stating, “I was appalled and disgusted to see such videos featuring disabled persons. Our highest duty is to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and my detectives acted quickly to bring charges.”
Koiyan was charged with one felony count of exploitation of a disabled person, with detectives currently reviewing the second video for potentially additional charges. It remains unclear which healthcare company employed her or the specific qualifications required for caregiving.
One video shows Koiyan twerking, standing on the arms of the chair, with the man’s head between her legs. Another clip features her straddling another man, both of whom are part of an adult daycare program. The shocking nature of these recordings has drawn condemnation from both police officials and social media users alike.
When discussing the videos, Chief Lowry stated, “When I watched it, disgusted is the only word I know. You are exploiting someone who is disabled for your personal gain.” His comments reflect the grave concerns surrounding the treatment of vulnerable individuals.
According to reports, police did not disclose how Koiyan was identified for the arrest but confirmed the process of taking her to custody. She underwent booking at the Walton County Jail, where she posted bail set at $7,500.
Despite the public outrage, Koiyan defended her actions, claiming the men could speak and were not non-verbal, implying their consent to her behavior. She stated, “Angles play a big part” and suggested interpretations of the videos were misleading. Koiyan even mentioned one man appearing to ask for a hug.
The investigation has raised questions about her qualifications to care for disabled individuals. Chief Lowry noted the inquiries surrounding the licensure of the adult daycare service and Koiyan's role within it, acknowledging the need for stringent regulation to protect vulnerable populations.
Following her arrest, Koiyan’s TikTok account was reportedly deleted, but echoes of the incident linger as various media outlets focus on the unsettling nature of her videos.
Social media continues to react strongly, with many users expressing horror at the supposed exploitation of disabled patients on public platforms. The Loganville Police Department has hinted at future developments, noting they are “considering additional charges” as the investigation progresses.
This incident has ignited discourse not only on the responsibilities of caregivers but also on the ethical ramifications of sharing sensitive content on social media platforms.
With investigations continuing, the community is left grappling with the consequences of such actions, spotlighting the imperative need for protection of those who are unable to defend themselves.
