Genesis Upgrades Electrified GV70 With Improved Range

The new model promises over 300 miles of range and cutting-edge technology features for luxury electric vehicle enthusiasts.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is stepping up the game for premium electric vehicles. Introduced during the Los Angeles Auto Show, the revamped model aims to compete with established luxury automakers like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.

Genesis has taken significant steps to improve upon its offering with the Electrified GV70, addressing consumer complaints about the vehicle's range and technological aspects. According to reports, this model has undergone several design tweaks to maintain its premium appeal, with key enhancements made to both the exterior and interior features.

The upgraded GV70 showcases sleek new headlights, refreshed bumper designs, and reimagined grille patterns featuring the sophisticated G-matrix design. Although some design changes are subtle, the visual updates contribute to the car's modern aesthetic. The increase of the battery capacity from 77kWh to 84kWh is expected to allow for over 300 miles of driving range—an improvement aimed at satisfying previous concerns about the vehicle's distance capabilities.

On the inside, the GV70 sets itself apart with the addition of a stunning 27-inch OLED display located directly before the driver, merging functionality with upscale design. This high-tech feature allows drivers to easily access both informational and entertainment functions, promoting ease of use without sacrificing elegance.

Further enhancing the user experience are the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities, which have become standard expectations for modern vehicles. The interior aesthetics remain intact, showcasing refined materials such as metals and leather, demonstrating Genesis's commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Quirks of the older model have been addressed, particularly the criticisms surrounding the previous tech setup. The new digital key technology transforms users' smartphones, allowing for hands-free entry and ignition without needing to physically carry traditional keys. The cabin is also enhanced with the option of premium sound systems by Bang & Olufsen and additional features like adjustable ambient lighting.

Genesis acknowledges the past criticisms stating, "Our biggest issues were with the range of the current car and some of the tech in the interior." This acknowledges the previous limitations faced by the model and reflects the brand's responsiveness to customer feedback.

While specifics for the UK market were not disclosed at the auto show, industry expectations suggest the revised GV70 Electric will arrive by the first half of 2025. Given the upgrades to battery size and technology, the starting price—which currently stands around £65,000—is likely to see a significant increase commensurate with the added value.

Overall, the Genesis Electrified GV70 stands poised not only to capture the attention of consumers seeking electric luxury vehicles but also to reinforce the brand's reputation for innovation and customer-centered design. With its compelling combination of technological advancements and quality enhancements, the GV70 sets benchmarks for competitors and offers exciting prospects for prospective buyers.
