Geely Auto's sub-brand Geely Galaxy officially launched the updated LEVC L380 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) on March 10, 2025, with significant enhancements and price reductions aimed at boosting its market presence among electric and hybrid vehicles.
The new LEVC L380 will start at RMB 299,900 (approximately $41,310), which reflects a notable reduction of RMB 80,000, or 26.68 percent, from its predecessor's starting price of RMB 379,900. This price adjustment is part of Geely's strategy to make the LEVC L380 more competitive within the growing EV market.
The original LEVC L380 was introduced on June 25, 2024, and was offered across four variants, with pricing starting at RMB 379,900 and going up to RMB 479,900. The revamped model, on the other hand, is now available in five configurations, priced at RMB 299,900, RMB 369,900, RMB 399,900, RMB 449,900, and RMB 599,900, respectively, catering to various consumer preferences.
One interesting aspect of the updated L380 is the introduction of the limited Collector Edition variant, which will be available at just five units per month, appealing to buyers seeking exclusivity.
Despite its updates, the new L380 retains the same length, width, and height as its predecessor, measuring 5,316 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and 1,940 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,185 mm. This uniformity is complemented by the introduction of enhanced seating options, with the six-seat configuration being standard, along with the RMB 369,900 variant offering for up to eight passengers.
Powering the new LEVC L380 are three battery pack options: 100 kWh, 116 kWh, and 140 kWh. These options promise impressive electric ranges between 570 km and 825 km, depending on the configuration, solidifying Geely's commitment to long-lasting vehicle performance. The most substantial 140 kWh pack utilizes the Qilin Battery from CATL, known for its energy density and efficiency, also used in Zeekr's MPV.
Under the hood, the L380 is equipped with powerful features, offering both standard and upgraded motor choices—200 kW or 400 kW, with torque ratings at 343 Nm and 686 Nm, respectively. The vehicle achieves impressive acceleration, taking 5.5 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint with the higher-powered motor. This level of performance signifies Geely Galaxy's effort to pair capability with utility.
The market positioning of the updated LEVC L380 is also fortified by the recent rebranding efforts March 3, 2025, when Geely Galaxy transitioned from product lineup to standalone brand, now overseeing the LEVC portfolio under its premium MPV line. This strategic decision is expected to amplify the recognition and sales of the LEVC range, which is historically tied to Geely's reputation after acquiring it fully in 2013—having established the legacy of London’s iconic black cabs since LEVC's founding back in 1908.
With the updated L380, Geely Galaxy aims to make significant strides within the electric vehicle market, addressing consumer demand for affordable, high-capacity MPVs without sacrificing quality or performance. This launch heralds Geely's broader ambitions to broaden its EV lineup, blending heritage and innovation.
Overall, the updated LEVC L380 stands as Geely’s latest endeavor to capture the electric vehicle segment, appealing to families and eco-conscious consumers with its pricing, spacious design, and advanced capabilities. The company continues to evolve and adapt amid competitive pressures within the automotive industry, actively seeking to hold and grow its market share.
With various models and price points, prospective buyers now have the opportunity to choose from features and specifications suited to individual needs, reflecting Geely's responsiveness to market trends and consumer preferences.
The company’s formidable entry with the updated L380 model offers a glimpse of its strategic direction as it aims to redefine mobility within urban landscapes through intelligent and sustainable transport solutions.
