British music legend Elton John and K-pop star G-Dragon are set to headline the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025. Organizers announced this exciting news on Thursday, February 20, 2025, through a post on the official Instagram account @f1nightrace.
"Get ready for a power-packed weekend toremember at the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025! Rounding off the thrilling track action from F1, F1 Academy and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia are global music superstars," the post stated.
G-Dragon is scheduled to perform on Friday, October 3, whereas Elton John will close the event on Sunday, October 5. This event signifies the much-anticipated return of G-Dragon, the undisputed king of K-Pop. According to The Strait Times, G-Dragon's concert at Padang Stage, Zone 4 will be particularly special. Recently, he ended a seven-year hiatus by announcing his solo album "Ubermensch," which is set for release on February 25.
His return to the music scene was marked by his performance at the MAMA Awards 2024, which was nine years after his last appearance. G-Dragon last held a solo concert in Singapore back in 2017 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and his upcoming performance is expected to draw thousands of fans, aligning with the launch of his "Ubermensch" world tour, beginning March 2025.
Meanwhile, Elton John will complete the F1 event with his concert on October 5 at the same stage. The 77-year-old singer had previously concluded his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour back in 2023. He, nonetheless, remains active and involved with special performances, continuing to captivate audiences with classics like "Tiny Dancer" and "Your Song." Elton last performed in Singapore during his concert at The Star Theatre back in 2015.
With over 300 million albums sold throughout his illustrious career, Elton John is considered one of the most influential music artists globally. The Singapore Formula 1 event is not just about racing; it has also become a major music festival. Each year, the concert at the Marina Bay Street Circuit draws tens of thousands of spectators. Last year's event saw approximately 60,000 people gather at the Padang Stage.
According to a report from CNA, Adam Firth, Executive Director of Singapore GP Pte Ltd, expressed excitement about the entertainment line-up, stating, "We are incredibly excited with how the full entertainment line-up is progressing but could not wait to announce these superstars will be performing at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this year. Other acts will be unveiled in the coming months to complete the full race weekend entertainment program."
Daily walkabout tickets have already been made available, with prices starting from S$148, or approximately Rp1.8 million, which grants access to Zone 4 on Friday, October 3. The Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025 is set to take place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit over three days, from October 3 to 5, 2025.
