Fulham Trolls Tosin Adarabioyo After Boxing Day Victory

The Cottagers celebrate their first win at Stamford Bridge since 1979 with social media antics aimed at their former player.

Fulham's social media team took aim at Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo following their remarkable 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day. This match marked Fulham's first win at their west London rivals' ground since 1979 and featured dramatic late goals from Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz, who turned the tide after Chelsea initially led thanks to Cole Palmer's opener.

After dominating the game early on, Chelsea appeared to be on their way to securing three points. Yet, with the match approaching its conclusion and only moments left to play, the Fulham squad sprang to life. Wilson's equalizer came during the 82nd minute, followed by Muniz's winning strike deep in stoppage time. The scenes were nothing short of ecstatic, with jubilant Fulham supporters savoring the sweet taste of victory.

Not one to miss the opportunity for banter, Fulham's social media team wasted no time celebrating their win at Adarabioyo's expense. Following the match, they posted several cheeky images on their TikTok account, highlighting the painful irony of his recent move from Fulham to Chelsea for free last summer. One widely shared image displayed Adarabioyo as he joined Chelsea, alongside his infamous quote: "If you can't beat them, join them." This posting certainly had fans buzzing, with one user commenting, "Fulham admin is probably the best admin," to which the Fulham account cheekily replied, "Today you woke up and decided to talk facts."

The malicious mocking continued with multiple posts, illustrating Adarabioyo's reactions during Fulham's goals, particularly when Wilson netted the equalizer. The final image of the TikTok showed him visibly distraught, face grimacing as the final score flashed on the screen. Such social media antics drew mixed reactions from the online community. Some found humor in the banter, celebrating it as clever, but others considered it disrespectful. One comment read, "Not a Chelsea fan but no matter the circumstance, you don't roast your former player like this; clubs are beyond such low-level administration."

While Fulham's social media team reveled in their rivals' misery, it’s worth noting how Adarabioyo has fared at Chelsea since their dramatic win. Having accumulated 15 appearances and even scoring once for the Blues, he is currently part of the squad sitting second in the Premier League. Some supporters pointed this out, emphasizing, "Tosin is also sat at 2nd in the league with a European goal on his tally whilst being a centre-back, so who's really having the last laugh here?"

Adarabioyo, who initially signed for Fulham from Manchester City after progressing through their youth ranks, spent four fruitful years at the club, making 132 appearances. He played a key role in helping Fulham gain promotion back to the Premier League in 2022. His departure to Chelsea was notable, as he turned down interest from other clubs, including Manchester United, to join the Blues with hopes of achieving greater success.

Marco Silva, Fulham’s manager, expressed sentiments about Adarabioyo's contributions at Fulham prior to the match, stating, "He was so important in three seasons with us. It’s nice to see him. It's going to be nice to see him there, of course, during the game; he's going to try to win; we’re going to try to win as well." Silva’s comment highlighted the mutual respect between clubs, but it served as the backdrop for the entertaining social media banter.

On the other side, Chelsea’s head coach Enzo Maresca expressed disappointment after witnessing his team fail to hold onto their lead. "The way we conceded the goal at the end, it’s a bad feeling," stated Maresca. He believed his side had control throughout much of the game but was caught off guard during Fulham's counter-attacks, stating, "We gave them too much energy. We knew they are very good in transition... It’s difficult to find a team like them."

The defeat now leaves Chelsea trailing behind current league leaders Liverpool by seven points, putting pressure on Maresca's side to respond and improve their position as they look to bounce back against Ipswich Town. Meanwhile, Fulham's thrilling victory and the aftermath of their social media activities guarantee this match will certainly linger on for supporters of both clubs.
