Fukuoka's Pandoro Exhibition Captivates Families

Children immerse themselves in the beloved world of 'Pandoro' at the exciting exhibition

The popular 'Pandoro Exhibition' celebrating the beloved children's book series began on February 3rd at Fukuoka Mitsukoshi in Tenjin, attracting large crowds of families right from the first day. This enchanting exhibition, which runs until February 26th, immerses visitors deeply in the whimsical world created by author Keiko Shibata.

Keiko Shibata's 'Pandoro' series features adorable characters wrapped up with bread, which not only captures the imagination of children but also draws parents, making it a popular choice for family outings. The exhibition showcases more than 100 original illustrations and rough sketches, allowing young fans to see the delightful artistry firsthand.

Among the many visitors was eight-year-old Saki Eriguchi, who enthusiastically shared her thoughts: "I love the expressions of the characters. The artwork displayed is very well done and cute." Such feedback reflects the exhibition's charm, capturing the hearts and minds of its audience.

Adding to the interactive experience, the exhibition features commentaries penned by Shibata herself, providing insights and stories about the creation of the series. There’s even a photo spot, where visitors can pose next to printed memorable scenes from the books, making it ideal for families wishing to capture their special moments together.

The event is organized by the Nishinippon Shimbun and other collaborative partners, ensuring professional execution and wide-reaching promotion. Located on the ninth floor of the Mitsukoshi department store, the gallery operates daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, though it closes at 5 PM on the final day. Families are encouraged to visit, and with entry prices set at 1600 yen for adults, 1200 yen for high school students, 1000 yen for middle schoolers, and just 600 yen for elementary school children, it presents an affordable outing for families.

With the exhibition demonstrating both visual and interactive elements, it’s more than just art on the walls; it's an invitation for children to engage creatively with the world of 'Pandoro'. The exhibition is not merely about showcasing the work but also fosters appreciation, discussion, and interaction with art and storytelling.

What's clear is the joy it brings—creating lasting memories, enriching childhood experiences, and fostering love for literature and art among the youth. The 'Pandoro Exhibition' at Fukuoka Mitsukoshi serves as both a cultural celebration and a delightful gathering spot for families eager to share stories and laughter amid art.
