Fronius, the Austrian leader in solar electronics, has officially unveiled its latest innovation, the Fronius Reserva, marking the company's foray directly into battery storage systems. This new high-voltage battery is touted not only to fill a significant gap within its existing product lineup but also to deliver integrated solutions for solar energy storage.
Solar energy, harvested during sunlight hours, often goes underutilized once the sun sets. Fronius aims to change this with the Reserva system, which allows users to store and access solar power even during nighttime. “We believe in a future where renewable energies can fully meet global energy demands,” said Harald Scherleitner, CSO of Fronius.
The Fronius Reserva offers storage capacities ranging from 6.3 kWh to 15.8 kWh through its modular design, allowing installations of two to five battery modules. With up to four towers able to be connected in parallel, users can achieve maximum storage capacities of up to 63 kWh. Such flexibility ensures the system can cater to varying energy needs of households and businesses alike.
The batteries utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology, which promises durability and safety. LFP batteries are known for their longevity and minimal maintenance, and they provide superior charge and discharge efficiencies. "The Fronius Reserva is backup power and black start capable,” stated the company. This capability means the battery will continue to operate during power outages, providing users with increased independence and reliability during emergency situations.
With dimensions of 78 cm wide and 17.6 cm deep, the Reserva’s height ranges from 86 cm to 161 cm, depending on the configuration. It also has a total weight varying from 86.5 kg to 187 kg, making it compact enough for various installations. The battery can function efficiently within environmental extremes, operating between -20 °C and 55 °C, and is rated with IP65 protection class, ensuring it is suitable for both indoor and sheltered outdoor applications.
Fronius has highlighted the convenience of using the Reserva with its existing hybrid inverters, the GEN24 Plus and Verto Plus. This integration enables smooth incorporation of the battery within current photovoltaic systems, providing users with simplified monitoring through the Solar.web app, which allows for effortless tracking of energy usage without the need for additional software installations.
“The greatest benefit for customers is the comprehensive nature of our offerings,” Scherleitner explained. “We provide all the necessary components for complete photovoltaic systems from one source. This means customers can enjoy seamless operation and support, saving valuable time and significantly enhancing service efficiency.”
The emergence of the Fronius Reserva also coincides with the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions as consumers seek to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. Fronius remains steadfast on its mission to lead the renewable energy transition by promoting efficient solar utilization.
Designed not only for homes but also for commercial applications, the new battery system showcases Fronius's commitment to durability, as it guarantees users 80% of usable energy even after ten years from the warranty start date. This promise fortifies Fronius's position as one of the main players, ensuring reliability and longevity as two core principles driving its innovations.
At the upcoming WEBUILD Energiesparmesse 2025, Fronius will showcase its complete photovoltaic solutions, with the Fronius Reserva battery taking center stage. Presenting at Hall 20 (Stand C920), they aim to connect with consumers eager to embrace green energy solutions.
Through the introduction of the Reserva system, Fronius not only enhances its lineup but also encourages more efficient energy management, contributing positively to sustainability goals and providing users across regions the tools they need to control and optimize their energy usage.
Fronius continues to innovate relentlessly, and the launch of the Reserva is another step toward achieving its vision of delivering accessible, reliable renewable energy solutions.
