"It has been a great start to the tax season and the Aging Best Facility is wonderful. We have received many positive comments from taxpayers," stated Kathy Roller, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide supervisor, as she reflected on the feedback received so far this season. The enthusiastic response highlights the community's appreciation for these free services, which are especially beneficial for seniors who may find the tax preparation process challenging.

The AARP Tax-Aide program is known for its commitment to assisting those over 50, along with any individual who requires help with tax forms at all income levels. Volunteers, who are IRS-certified, undergo specialized training to prepare and electronically file federal and state income tax returns. These services are provided free of charge, emphasizing accessibility for all community members.

Notably, the program aligns with AARP's mission of empowering older adults to live independently with dignity, offering support through various services, including financial counseling and other educational resources.

The preparation help is not limited to just tax returns; Tax-Aide volunteers also provide guidance on legitimate tax credits and deductions available to help minimize the burden of taxes. This, they hope, encourages greater participation among seniors and individuals with limited incomes.

To benefit from these services, residents are strongly encouraged to make appointments as soon as possible due to the high demand leading up to the tax deadline. Taxpayers can access the online reservation system easily or simply reach out via phone for those who prefer direct communication. This accessibility effort exemplifies the community spirit embodied by local organizations dedicated to helping residents.

Older adults needing assistance can rely on the expertise of volunteers who are immensely knowledgeable about tax laws and modifications made regularly by the IRS. This is particularly important, considering the tax law changes enacted annually.

With tax season well underway, residents should not miss the opportunity to take advantage of the AARP Tax-Aide program's services before the filing deadline occurs. Ensuring one’s taxes are filed correctly and on time is imperative, and these free resources are available to help with just such matters.

The Highland Lakes Tax-Aide program stands as a valuable community resource, reflecting the commitment to providing not only necessary services but also fostering inclusivity and support among residents. Questions can be directed to the respective local Tax-Aide sites or through AARP’s dedicated channels for more information.
