FragPunk March Update: Major Weapon And Ability Changes

NetEase introduces significant buffs and nerfs, reshaping the gameplay balance in FragPunk.

FragPunk, the innovative hero shooter from NetEase, has just rolled out a significant update on March 18, 2025, promising to shake up its competitive landscape with a series of balancing adjustments to weapons and game mechanics. By introducing vital changes, the developers aim to enhance gameplay while addressing community feedback on existing issues.

This patch notably buffs some weapons that players have deemed essential while nerfing others that had become too powerful. Most prominently in this update, the 'Bad Moon-S' Marksman Rifle has received a notable damage boost. Now, this powerful weapon deals 48 damage within 0-15 meters and 45 damage beyond that range, increasing its potency, especially in close to mid-range combat. This adjustment is particularly beneficial for skilled players who excel at landing headshots, as it enhances the weapon’s overall efficiency in combat scenarios.

However, while the 'Bad Moon-S' gets a much-desired buff, the 'Burner,' another weapon within the game, will no longer benefit from its previous capabilities. The number of incendiary grenades has been reduced from two to one, meaning players relying on this weapon must now be more strategic in its use, balancing offensive power with capabilities that allow for control of the battlefield.

Beyond weapons, crucial updates have also been made to character abilities, particularly for Lancers, the game's playable heroes. Specifically, the detection range of Jaguar's skill 'I CAN SEE FOR MILES' has expanded from 10 meters to 25 meters, allowing for greater surveillance against enemy movements. Alongside this, the maximum blinding range of Corona's 'Hothead' ability has also been enhanced, increased from 15 to 30 meters. These changes are strategically critical, enabling Lancers to dominate the battlefield by controlling vision and positioning more effectively.

Furthermore, on the broader gameplay level, an overall increase in movement speed has been implemented, likely aimed at creating a more fast-paced experience. Players can expect quicker engagements, requiring them to adapt their strategies promptly.

In terms of Shard Cards, which add additional gameplay mechanics, several adjustments have been made. For example, the head magnification multiplier of the shard card 'Big Heads' has been reduced, while the required shard points for several cards have increased, including 'Death’s Embrace' and 'Itchy Triggers.' However, the required points for 'Painful Motivation' have been notably reduced, providing players a better chance at customizing their loadouts. In game strategies may now shift dramatically with these updates, as players reevaluate which cards to invest in for optimal performance.

The health of the Infernal Hounds, a pivotal enemy in the game, has also been dramatically altered, dropping from 130 to a more manageable 50, which might ease the challenge players face when encountering them. Generally, such changes are part of a continual effort by NetEase to refine gameplay and address player complaints.

Additionally, certain bugs have been addressed in this update, including iissues related to character animations and model displays, as well as problems where players could move outside the map boundaries. Notably, one of the more notorious bugs concerning audio effects was not included in this update, leaving some players still frustrated. Developers disabled the option for players to hide their names, primarily to assist in investigations of cheating behaviors, reflecting a commitment to maintaining a fair playing environment.

The game’s community response to these changes remains to be seen, but initial feedback indicates a cautious optimism. Players have expressed excitement at seeing their main weapon—the 'Bad Moon-S'—become even more formidable. The thrill of adapting to new mechanics and strategies is a core appeal of games like FragPunk, and this update appears aimed at fostering that dynamic.

As it stands, FragPunk is evolving into a more balanced and engaging experience, with developers clearly listening to player input. Future patches will likely continue this trend, promising ongoing updates that refine gameplay mechanics, character roles, and overall game balance. Players will have to rethink their strategies as they adapt to these changes, ensuring that they remain competitive in the ever-evolving battlefield of FragPunk.

Those interested in further information on FragPunk can look forward to the next installment of the game's updates, which will continue to push the boundaries of hero shooter experiences.
