Fortnite OG Season 3 Launches With Classic Skins And Major Updates

Players can now revisit iconic maps and enjoy new weapons alongside the returning 50v50 LTM.

Fortnite is back online after a refreshingly short downtime, launching the new season of Fortnite OG. For those out of the loop, OG is the throwback mode that lets players revisit remixed versions of classic seasons from chapter one, when the battle royale first took off. The latest update introduces a new OG Pass packed with modified versions of classic skins and cosmetics, which can be purchased for 1,000 V-Bucks.

It also sees the return of an action-packed limited-time mode (LTM), a familiar location on the map, and the blue meteor live event. Meanwhile, Fortnite Ballistic (another relatively fresh game mode) is getting a brand-new map. Here’s what you need to know about Fortnite’s latest update, dubbed v34.20, including details on the new OG Pass and more.

Fortnite OG season three - what’s new? Rewinding the clock to 2018, Fortnite OG season three brings back classic weapons, locations, and events.

Map changes, OG 50v50 LTM, and blue meteor event: After dropping onto the map, players can head to Lucky Landing, a Japan-inspired area with cherry blossoms ideal for close-quarters shootouts. As the season progresses, a blue meteor will appear in the sky and gradually get closer in a nod to the battle royale’s first-ever live event. As long-time players will recall, the space rock eventually crashed into Dusty Depot all those years ago, leaving behind the Dusty Divot crater. Inside the impact zone, players discovered a mysterious pod containing the Visitor—a pivotal character who would go on to shape Fortnite’s tangled lore.

Epic Games has also rebooted the highly requested 50v50 LTM from 2017. The temporary mini-game (which is available until April 14) sees two 50-player teams battling it out for supremacy on the Fortnite Island.

New loot pool: To wipe out your opponents, you can choose from a range of new weapons as part of the latest loot pool, several of which (including the guided missile) are live now. The new arsenal includes: Guided Missile (live now) - Fire a rocket and steer it remotely. Back for the first time since 2018! Hand Cannon (live now) - A heavy-hitting sidearm with serious stopping power. Hunting Rifle (live now!) - A marksman’s weapon that can pick off foes quickly. Remote Explosives - Stick, detonate, and watch it go boom. Heavy Shotgun - A mid-range powerhouse with a single, deadly slug for close encounters. Port-A-Fort - Toss it down to spawn a sturdy metal tower. Light Machine Gun - Tear through buildings or keep enemies pinned down with rapid-fire mayhem. Clingers - Sticky grenades that latch on before delivering an explosive surprise.

What’s in the Fortnite OG pass? New skins and items revealed: A new season means a new OG pass. This time around, players can progress through 45 tiers of rewards to snag iconic outfits that hark back to Power Chord, Raven, and Rex from the original season 3. Remember, you can earn XP in any Fortnite mode to unlock free and premium rewards. As usual, you can grab the OG Pass by paying 1,000 V-Bucks or through the Fortnite Crew subscription. Here are all the main rewards: Exclusive Outfits: Power Punk (instant unlock), Mecha R3X, Sir Raven. Accessories: The Rebel Pickaxe, Horizon Rider Glider, and Fowl Mantle Back Bling.

What’s new in Fortnite Ballistic? Alongside a lengthy list of weapons adjustments and bug fixes, Ballistic now includes its first new map since launch. It’s called Hammer Fall and looks like a massive fort surrounded by water. Epic Games says it’s a “shell map,” meaning it’s a work in progress that will change based on player feedback.
