Former U.S. Attorney Zach Myers Joins McCarter & English

Zach Myers brings extensive experience in cybersecurity and litigation to McCarter’s Indianapolis office.

Zachary A. Myers, the former United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, has officially joined McCarter & English’s Indianapolis office as a partner in its Business Litigation group. He will also serve as a leader of the firm’s multidisciplinary Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team, co-leading with Erin Prest, who joined the firm last month from the FBI.

Myers brings a wealth of experience in high-stakes litigation and cybersecurity, focusing on counseling clients through their most complex challenges. His tenure as U.S. Attorney, which lasted from November 2021 until January 2025, was marked by significant responsibilities, overseeing an office comprising 55 attorneys and 50 support personnel across four locations in Indiana.

During his time at the Department of Justice (DOJ), Myers was instrumental in leading investigations and prosecutions related to cyber and technology-facilitated crimes. He also served as Chair of the Attorney General Advisory Committee’s Cyber and Intellectual Property Subcommittee, where he engaged with various divisions of the DOJ, including the National Security Division and the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section.

Myers stated, “My passion has always been building—whether it’s building cases, building teams, or building relationships.” He expressed enthusiasm about joining McCarter, citing the firm’s proactive approach in a constantly evolving legal landscape. “I look forward to contributing to the growth of the firm’s Indianapolis office, its broader Midwest presence, and to helping to lead its growing Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team.”

Prior to his role as U.S. Attorney, Myers had a distinguished career as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in both Maryland and Indiana. In Maryland, he led the office’s cybercrime investigations and prosecutions, responding to data breaches, ransomware, and insider threats. His efforts helped establish the National Security & Cybercrime Section, and he was the district’s first Cybercrime Counsel.

Myers’ appointment is part of McCarter’s strategic expansion in the Midwest. In January 2024, the firm expanded its office space in Indianapolis to accommodate ongoing growth. This move was followed by the addition of partners Aaron Grant and Christopher Drewry in February 2025, who specialize in commercial litigation, construction, and labor and employment law.

“Zach’s leadership experience as a U.S. Attorney, coupled with his far-reaching connections nationally throughout the public and private sectors and his passion for staying on the cutting edge of technological advancements, will benefit the firm and our clients both locally and nationally,” remarked Amy Fisher, co-managing partner of McCarter & English’s Indianapolis office.

Myers also intends to leverage his extensive knowledge in cybersecurity, data privacy, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, electronic investigations, digital forensics, encryption, and anonymization to assist clients navigating the complexities of the modern digital world. He noted that his experience working closely with foreign law enforcement agencies has equipped him to handle transnational issues effectively.

Furthermore, Myers indicated that he would spend time in the firm’s Washington office, aiding clients in navigating federal government issues, including Congressional inquiries and regulatory matters. This unique blend of experience and expertise positions him as a valuable asset to McCarter & English.

Myers, who grew up in Indiana, holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, an M.A. in Political Management from The George Washington University, and a B.A. in Political Science from Stanford University. His commitment to public service and legal excellence is evident in his career choices and professional achievements.

The firm’s recent expansions and strategic hires, including Myers, underline its commitment to enhancing its presence and capabilities in the Midwest. As the legal landscape continues to evolve, McCarter & English is poised to remain at the forefront, providing clients with innovative solutions and exceptional legal talent.

In summary, Zachary A. Myers’ transition to McCarter & English marks a significant development in both his career and the firm’s strategic growth. His extensive background in cybersecurity and litigation will undoubtedly contribute to the firm’s mission of delivering cutting-edge legal services across various industries, including technology, fintech, healthcare, and more.
