Food Recalls Initiated Due To Safety Concerns

Kelly Loves and TJX Europe Ltd warn consumers over potential contamination and undeclared allergens.

Kelly Loves, a manufacturer specializing in Korean and Japanese food products, has initiated a recall of its 150ml jars of Sushi Ginger due to concerns about potential glass contamination. This precautionary measure was announced on March 18, 2025, following warnings from food safety authorities.

The jars affected by this recall feature the batch code UK12019, with a best before date set for February 9, 2026. Points of sale notices now displayed at retail stores like Waitrose and ASDA inform consumers about the risks associated with the product. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) stated, "The possible presence of glass makes this product unsafe to eat. The affected product was sold in ASDA and Waitrose."

To safeguard customers, Kelly Loves has advised anyone who purchased the affected jars to refrain from consuming the product and to return it to the store for a full refund. The company has expressed, "While the product has been removed from shelves as a precautionary measure, we are now extending the recall to consumers who may have purchased the affected product. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your co-operation."

Aside from the sushi ginger, another recall stems from TJX Europe Ltd, which has also announced the withdrawal of two batches of its ‘Lokumella Mini Pistachio Bars.’ These bars were sold at TK Maxx and Homesense stores from January to March 2025 and are now being recalled due to the presence of undeclared milk, which could pose serious health risks for individuals with dairy allergies. The affected packs bear batch codes 758612 and 758664, both with a best before date of November 24, 2026.

Point of sale notices are also being displayed at stores, advising customers with milk allergies not to consume the pistachio bars and to return them for full refunds. This recall emphasizes the importance of clear labeling to prevent exposure to allergens, which can have life-threatening consequences for sensitive individuals.

Food safety remains at the forefront of consumer well-being, and regulatory bodies like the Food Standards Agency are actively working to minimize health risks through diligent oversight and prompt action on food recalls. Consumers are encouraged to check their pantries for the recalled products and take immediate action if they possess any listed items, ensuring their health and safety above all.

Both incidents highlight the vigilance required by food manufacturers and retailers to maintain public trust through transparency and effective communication. This latest wave of recalls serves as a reminder for consumers to be aware of the products they purchase and consume.
