Florida Pizza Delivery Driver Arrested For Stabbing

Dispute over tip turns violent as woman is stabbed 14 times at motel

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- A pizza deliverer in central Florida has been charged with pushing her way inside a motel room and stabbing a pregnant woman following a dispute over the size of her tip, authorities said. Brianna Alvelo, 22, faces serious charges including attempted murder and home invasion stemming from the violent altercation.

The incident unfolded late Sunday night at the Riviera Motel on E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the victim had ordered food from Marco's Pizza, with Alvelo delivering the meal just before the attack. The delivery totaled around $33.10, and the woman handed Alvelo a $50 bill, expecting change. When Alvelo could not provide the necessary change, the woman ended up giving her just $2 as a tip, which reportedly upset Alvelo.

After she returned with the food, Alvelo became enraged during the encounter, rolling her eyes and walking away. Hours later, around mid-night, the victim, her boyfriend, and their 5-year-old daughter were asleep when they heard loud knocking on their motel room door. Upon opening the door, they were confronted by Alvelo and another masked individual, armed with a firearm.

Authorities reported the male suspect ordered the victim’s boyfriend to the bathroom, and Alvelo began to rummage through their belongings. It is then Alvelo allegedly turned on the pregnant woman, stabbing her 14 times with a pocket knife as the victim tried to shield her daughter. According to the arrest report, the woman informed police she was only trying to protect her child when the attack occurred.

Alvelo reportedly smashed the victim's cell phone during the assault before fleeing the scene with her accomplice. The victim, left with multiple stab wounds, was rushed to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery for a ruptured lung. It was during her hospitalization she discovered she was pregnant, reaffirming the traumatic nature of the incident.

The day after the attack, authorities tracked down Alvelo. Her male accomplice, who remains unidentified, has not yet been located. Alvelo is currently being held without bond at the Osceola County Jail.

Law enforcement expressed their disbelief over the violent nature of the crime. According to the sheriff’s office, this was not just another robbery gone wrong but rather a premeditated and brutally violent act resulting from the relatively small matter of tip dispute. The sheriff's office stated, "Alvelo, who was armed with a knife, began attacking one of the victims.”

The incident has generated significant community concern. The local franchise of Marco's Pizza extended their condolences, issuing a statement saying, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident... The safety and well-being of customers and team members are always our top priority, and we are taking this incident very seriously." They confirmed Alvelo's employment and cooperation with local authorities.

Hearing of such violence linked to something as seemingly trivial as tipping has highlighted discussions around the culture of service and compensation. Many residents expressed shock at the incident, questioning how something so mundane could escalate to violence. Comments across social media platforms have called for more awareness about the pressures delivery workers face, which could lead to extreme reactions like those exhibited by Alvelo.

This incident has raised more questions than answers about the tipping culture and how disputes may lead to unforeseen consequences. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking information leading to the identification of the masked male accomplice and encouraging community members with useful tips to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Osceola County Sheriff's Office or join the Crimeline at 800-423-8477. Authorities continue to investigate this shocking case, with many eager to see how the judicial system will handle Alvelo's alleged violent actions stemming from what should have been a simple pizza delivery.
