FKA twigs has cancelled the North American leg of her Eusexua tour, citing visa difficulties that have left fans disappointed and the artist heartbroken. Originally scheduled to kick off tonight, March 26, 2025, in Chicago, the tour was set to include shows in Toronto and New York City in the following days. In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the UK-based artist, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, explained the situation.
“Today, I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the USA and perform,” she said. “So that means, by no choice of my own, I will have to pull out of my New York, Chicago and Toronto shows.” The Chicago performances, originally slated for March 26 and 27, have been rescheduled for June 24 and 25, 2025.
FKA twigs expressed her devastation over the cancellation, stating, “I don’t take this lightly. I’m completely devastated, to be honest with you. Completely heartbroken. All I want to do is be there with you and bring Eusexua to you.” The artist also clarified that the complications surrounding her Toronto show were due to routing issues and the complex nature of touring.
The North American leg of her tour follows a successful run in the UK and Europe, culminating in a final performance in London on March 22, 2025. FKA twigs described those shows as “absolutely incredible,” but revealed that behind the scenes, organizing the tour has been challenging. “It has been challenging with production and just the more practical sides of putting this tour together,” she noted.
In her video message, FKA twigs reassured her fans that she is actively working to correct the issue with her team. “I’m looking into how and why this happened and I’m making sure that I have the support to correct this,” she said. “So with that being said, I will be rescheduling these shows, and information will be coming on that very shortly.”
Despite the setbacks, FKA twigs is still scheduled to perform in Mexico City and at the Coachella festival next month, although it remains uncertain if those dates will be impacted by the visa issues. “I feel super let down,” she admitted, emphasizing her commitment to returning to her fans “harder and stronger than ever.”
The complications surrounding FKA twigs’ visa situation are not unique to her. Many artists have voiced concerns over the rising costs and lengthy waiting times associated with obtaining the necessary visas to tour in the United States. Last April, the cost of certain visas doubled to over $1,000 per person, not including additional fees for expedited processing, which some artists have found essential to meet tight deadlines.
Irish singer-songwriter CMAT previously spoke about the financial strain of touring in the US, highlighting that while it can be costly, performing there is crucial for building a successful global career. The US Embassy has stated that the increased visa fees are a result of rising operational costs and a backlog in processing applications.
FKA twigs’ Eusexua tour was highly anticipated, especially since she hadn’t performed in the USA since 2019. Her fans were eager to experience her latest work, which has received acclaim following the release of her third studio album, also titled Eusexua, in January 2025. The album peaked at number three on the UK albums chart, further increasing excitement for her live performances.
As the news of the tour cancellation spread, fans took to social media to express their disappointment and support for the artist. Many shared messages of understanding, acknowledging that logistical challenges can arise in the complex world of touring.
FKA twigs’ situation highlights a broader issue within the music industry, particularly for international artists seeking to perform in the US. With visa complications and rising costs, the landscape for touring remains fraught with challenges. As she navigates these hurdles, FKA twigs remains hopeful for the future, promising her fans that she will return to the stage, ready to deliver the performance they’ve been waiting for.
In her parting words, she expressed gratitude for her fans’ understanding and support. “Thank you so much for understanding,” she said. “I’m going to come to you harder and stronger than ever. Thank you so much, love you.”
