First-Ever Holi Fest Brightens San Jose With Joyful Celebration

The vibrant festival unites the community in a colorful homage to Indian culture and heritage.

SAN JOSE, CA – Throngs of colorful revelers transformed Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose into a spectacular celebration during the city’s first-ever Holi Fest, organized by the Association of Indo Americans (AIA) in partnership with Bolly 92.3. The vibrant festival celebrated the Indian festival of colors, drawing an impressive crowd of approximately 15,000 attendees.

The Holi festival, held on March 18, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. Participants joyfully tossed colored powders, creating a dazzling display that encapsulated the spirit of the event. Supported by over 50 Indian organizations across the Bay Area, Holi Fest brought together individuals from various cultural backgrounds, fostering unity and celebration.

In attendance were several dignitaries, including Deputy Consul General of India Rakesh Adlakha, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein, and Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan. Numerous city council members and community leaders also participated in the joyous occasion. Mayor Mahan expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We are thrilled to witness such a magnificent celebration of Holi here in San Jose. The colors, the energy, and the spirit of togetherness truly make this event special." His sentiments were echoed across social media by officials who shared pictures and messages of appreciation.
