First Pension Payments Of 2025 Set For January 2

The government aims to ease financial burdens for older adults following holiday expenses with pending pension adjustments.

The first pension payment of 2025 will provide significant assistance to many older adults, helping them tackle their year-end and new year expenses. The Federal Government has confirmed the date for this initial payment, which will benefit retirees from the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), as well as older adults enrolled in the Pensión Bienestar program.

This support aims to offer financial relief following the often high expenses associated with holiday celebrations, marking a hopeful start to the year for millions of Mexican families. So, when exactly will the first pension payment of 2025 be issued?

Beneficiaries from both IMSS and ISSSTE will receive their deposits on Tuesday, January 2, 2025. ISSSTE affiliates will enjoy additional benefits, as they will also receive the second aguinaldo payment corresponding to 2024 on this date, helping to alleviate financial burdens at the year's start.

This deposit will cover the two-month period of January and February and will follow a distribution schedule based on the first letter of the beneficiary’s last name. On top of this, President Claudia Sheinbaum has announced plans for increasing pensions to reflect inflation, which is estimated to be between 3.5% and 3.8%. The exact figures are not confirmed yet, but there is expectation of about 200 pesos increase, with official details expected to be unveiled soon.

For those enrolled in the Pensión Bienestar program, various methods are available to verify their deposits. Beneficiaries can utilize:

  • The Bank of Well-Being app, available on mobile devices.

  • A dedicated phone line, calling 800 900 2000, to receive virtual assistance.

  • Direct consultation at Bank of Well-Being branches and ATMs to check their balance.

Should any delays or issues arise, beneficiaries are encouraged to reach out to IMSS or ISSSTE’s support lines or visit the nearest service centers.

The first pension payment of 2025 not only stands as economic relief for millions of Mexican families, but it also reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing social programs. Along with the increases to amounts, additional benefits, and the introduction of new health programs, 2025 is poised to be pivotal for supporting the nation’s most vulnerable sectors.
