First Baby Of 2025 Born At Fermo Hospital

The first child of the year brings new hope amid improving birth rates.

The Murri Hospital in Fermo has welcomed its first baby of 2025, marking a significant milestone for the local community. The newborn, named Brando, came to the world this morning at 8:02 AM, bringing joy to his parents, Antea Ciuccarelli and Federico Franchi, both residents of Fermano.

Welcoming Brando were the skilled healthcare professionals of the hospital, including the Director of Gynaecology, Alberto Maria Scartozzi, gynecologist Monia Nardi, and midwife Francesca Pistilli. The delivery team was also supported by Luisanna Cola, the Director of Anesthesia and Resuscitation, along with five other experienced staff members.

Brando’s arrival signifies not only personal joy for his family but also the continuity of life at the hospital, as he takes the baton from the last baby born there, Mattia, who entered the world on December 30, 2024. This event underlines the importance of the hospital's role within the community, as Brando is wrapped not only in his mother’s love but also within the supportive environment of the hospital.

Dr. Alberto Maria Scartozzi, who leads the Materno-Infantile Department, noted, "in 2024, we recorded 630 births, about 30 more than the previous year. Despite the general trend of decreasing birth rates, we are seeing encouraging progress due to improved obstetric assistance and the gradual introduction of active birth techniques, which make the experience more humane for the partners involved." This positive shift highlights the hospital's commitment to enhancing maternal care.

Adding to the positive changes, Dr. Scartozzi mentioned the significant boost resulting from the introduction of pain management options, strongly advocated for by Dr. Luisanna Cola. The Pediatric Department, now under the guidance of Dr. Veronica Albano, has also seen improvements with the arrival of three new pediatricians and the anticipated addition of an experienced neonatologist.

Filippo Saltamartini, the Vice President and Health Assessor of the Marche Region, has acknowledged the efforts to strengthen healthcare services. He stated, "The initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare are showing positive outcomes, as evidenced by the growing trust from the citizens. We continue to work and invest to guarantee the best care for the people of Marche." His remarks shed light on the overall healthcare environment within which these changes are taking place.

The first birth of 2025 at Murri Hospital is more than just the arrival of Brando; it symbolizes hope and progress for the hospital and the surrounding community. With increasing numbers and improvements made within the facility, Brando's birth sets the tone for what may be expected this year and beyond.
