STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — Level 3 evacuations have been ordered due to the rapidly spreading Wicked Drive Fire. Residents near 5610 Corkscrew Canyon Road are required to evacuate immediately.
The Stevens County Fire District 1 has advised those living within a 1/3-mile radius of the fire's vicinity to leave without delay. Recent updates indicate the fire has extended from 140 to 200 acres, with continued spotting to the east.
By 3:50 PM, officials confirmed the Wicked Drive Fire had reached 200 acres, reflecting its quick escalation. Fire crews remain active on the ground, working alongside aerial support to tackle the flames.
Earlier reports showed the fire initially covering 150 acres with evacuation orders remaining effective. A dedicated structure protection team has also been deployed as part of the firefighting response.
At 2:35 PM, the evacuation level was raised to Level 2 “be set” for those within 2,000 feet around Corkscrew Canyon Road. This proactive approach was taken as the fire burns fiercely between Corkscrew Canyon Road and Highway 291.
The challenging terrain has hindered fire crews’ accessibility, complicading efforts to control the blaze. Both air tankers and bulldozers are on-site assisting ground teams.
Stevens County officials are actively monitoring the situation and keeping residents informed of developments. Authorities urge everyone to stay tuned for updates as firefighting efforts continue.
Residents should follow all evacuation instructions precisely, as safety is the top priority amid the fire's unpredictable path. It's important for the community to remain alert and prepared to act as the conditions evolve.
This is still very much a developing story, and new information will be shared as it becomes available. Anyone within the affected areas is encouraged to heed warnings and evacuate swiftly to avoid potential dangers.
