February 2025 School Calendar: Key Holidays For Students

Parents should note important breaks as classes resume after winter holidays.

With the return to classes after the winter break, parents are starting to wonder about upcoming holidays and breaks for February 2025, aiming to give their children well-earned time off from school obligations. The good news is, there are only two days when classes will be suspended for the month, providing preschool, primary, and secondary students with some respite based on the school calendar from the Secretaria de Educación Pública (SEP).

According to the SEP calendar, no classes will be held on Monday, February 3rd, due to the observance of Constitution Day, which is officially celebrated on February 5th but is moved to create the first holiday bridge of the year. The following day off occurs on February 28th, coinciding with the Technical School Council meeting, during which teachers have important updates to discuss.
This structure means students can enjoy planning family activities or rest during these times, helping parents organize care for their children on days they won’t be at school.

One of the highly anticipated breaks is the Easter vacation, scheduled from April 14th to 25th, 2025—a cherished time for families to enjoy together. But before all of this, there’s another noteworthy development for students, especially those in Quintana Roo.

The SEP has recently announced via their social media platforms and the school calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year, granting students from all educational levels across Quintana Roo four days without classes during January and February 2025. This surprise break will allow them to extend their rest period after the hectic activities of Christmas and New Year's.

What contributes to this mega bridge? According to local educational authorities, it combines several important events for both students and teachers. The first major bridge spans from January 31st to February 3rd, thanks to coinciding milestones. Students and school staff will have time off starting with January 31st, which is reserved for the Council Technical School meeting—the last Friday of every month where educational strategies are analyzed.

Then, on February 3rd, there’s the constitutional day holiday. Not only is this day closed for students, but it’s also mandated as non-working for employees per the Federal Labor Law (LFT). Those who must work on this day are entitled to triple pay, according to Article 75 of the beneficial labor regulations. Therefore, students get to indulge in four consecutive days off, including the weekend.

Expanding on this timely break throughout the semester, the SEP calendar outlines various key breaks earlier on to include January 31st for the Technical School Council and reaffirming February 3rd for Constitution Day.

Significantly, the break on February 28th aligns with yet another gathering of the Technical School Council, reinforcing the commitment to teacher development and planning for student learning.

Efforts to include time off are well-documented within the educational framework, showing the balance needed between learning and the necessity for rest for students and educators alike. With these dates on calendar, families can begin planning pleasurable escapes or simply enjoy relaxing days at home.

The structure of meeting holidays like these highlights the importance of enjoying balanced lifestyles and creating memorable family moments without the hustle and bustle of school responsibilities. Parents are encouraged to take these holidays seriously, organizing schedules appropriately and playing active roles during the holiday breaks.

Overall, the February 2025 school calendar brings much excitement, with opportunities for students to recharge and for families to reconnect during these important days of holiday.
