February 2025 Payments Start For Italy's Unico Allowance

Families urged to update ISEE by February 28 for adjusted payments and retroactive benefits

Starting from today, February 17, 2025, beneficiaries of the Unico Allowance (assegno unico) will begin receiving their payments from the Italian National Social Security Institute (INPS). Payments will be scheduled between February 17 and 19, 2025, for those who have not modified their applications according to the updated economic indicators. For recipients whose amounts have changed due to the ISEE (Indicator of Economic Equivalent Situation) declaration, the adjusted payments will be issued by the end of the month.

The increase for the 'assegno unico' is notable, as it reflects a 0.8% adjustment due to the increased cost of living documented for the year 2024. For families with specific circumstances outlined by recent legislation, substantial increases are now available: families with children aged under one year will see their allowances rise by 50% until the child turns one, and families with at least three children whose ISEE does not exceed €45,939.56 will also receive additional increases. For families with four or more children, a fixed bonus of €150 per month will be granted.

February 2025 is also pivotal as it is the last month the ISEE parameters from 2024 will be considered before transitioning to the new guidelines. All beneficiaries must update their ISEE by February 28. Failure to do so will result in the minimal allowance being issued, approximately €57, effective from March 1, 2025. Although the cutoff date is stringent, families have until June 30, 2025, to present their new ISEE declarations. If done before this final date, beneficiaries will receive back payments reflecting the corrected allowance amounts. INPS emphasizes the importance of this procedure and encourages using the prefilled ISEE service available on their online portal to streamline the application process.

“This increase is more than just financial assistance; it’s recognition of the existing economic pressures faced by families,” stated officials from INPS. They indicated the measures aim to provide households with immediate financial relief following the pressures of inflation. Specifically, the adjustments are intended to increase financial stability among families with varying numbers of dependents and income levels.

For families affected by the transition from the previous family support scheme to the Unico Allowance, transitory increases will conclude this month. The transitional payments put in place within the previous frameworks have assisted families as they adjusted to the transformed economic support structures.

It is clear the February payments are part of broader enhancements aimed at increasing the financial resilience of families across Italy. With the inflation adjustment and new income thresholds established, the initiative seeks to streamline support and provide increased accessibility to those who require it the most. Families are encouraged to stay attentive to their eligibility and corresponding financial amounts to maximize their support benefits.

For more assistance or if you need support with the ISEE application, individuals can reach out to their local CAAF or consult with the CGIL for guidance on the process of updating their financial status to align with the new regulations. This comprehensive approach underlines the Italian government’s commitment to aiding families during this economically challenging period.
