Fans Back Laura Hamilton Amid Property Hunt Frustrations

Sally and Tony's house search in Cyprus raises eyebrows among viewers as they deem the episode pointless and the couple fussy.

A Place In The Sun fans have backed Laura Hamilton after she seemed 'irritated' by a 'fussy' pair during what many considered the 'most pointless episode ever'. In a recently aired episode of the Channel 4 property show, Sally was searching for the perfect property to share with her husband Tony in Cyprus. With assistance from sister-in-law Sharon, who already lives in the area, they aimed to find a place that met their budget of £125,000 and included a pool along with two or three bedrooms.

The search quickly became complicated. While Sally initially liked the first property she viewed, she was far less impressed by the second option, a £127,000 two-bedroom apartment featuring two balconies, which left the viewing surprisingly cut short. Laura took the pair into the property and began showcasing its open-plan kitchen and dining area.

During the tour, Sally expressed her hesitation, stating, 'It doesn't wow me, I'm peeking out of the window because I can see that beautiful sea view but I'm not so keen on the kitchen. I'm not sure about the outlook out of the kitchen window.' Sharon also agreed with Sally about the sea view while voicing concerns about the property’s kitchen design. As the conversation progressed, Sally revealed that her husband Tony was not particularly fond of the first property’s outdoor space, which ultimately led them to dismiss it as an option.

When asked by Laura if the apartment was working for them, Sally responded, 'Not for me, I'll be honest Laura, no.' Her candid admission took Laura aback, prompting her to ask, 'You already know that?' to which Sally firmly reiterated, 'No, no this isn't for me.' She expressed her prior excitement about the earlier property but now felt pressured to like the current one for the cameras.

Laura attempted to redirect their focus, saying, 'I don't want you to waste time looking at something if you think this is absolutely not going to be for you, but at the same time I have to give you the opportunity should you want to, to look at it.' Despite this effort, both Sally and Sharon seemed dismissive, with Sharon adding, 'There's no point if Sal's not happy here.'

As the episode concluded, there was no decision to put an offer on any properties. Many fans took to social media to voice their opinions, deeming the couple 'fussy' and critiquing the episode overall as 'pointless'. One user commented on X, 'Most pointless episode ever. He doesn’t bother going on the show. They know the area well. Completely silly.' Another remarked, 'Laura’s getting irritated! Draw a line under it and lock up!'

The viewer feedback ranged widely, with comments like, 'This is just pointless. Sally wants a mansion for £145k.' Some felt the episode lacked excitement, with another viewer saying, 'Quite boring this episode.' Entertainment Daily reported that another user labeled Sally as 'fussy', indicating a divide in viewer sentiments regarding the property hunters.

This episode’s criticism was reminiscent of another recent installment of the show where viewers could not help but express their disapproval of a couple’s 'downright rude and nasty' behavior. In this case, builder Karl and executive coach Sonia were navigating their search for a home in Charente, France, with a budget of £160,000 while expressing dissatisfaction with the options presented to them by expert Craig Rowe.

Both couples were seeking ideal homes but faced challenges in balancing personal expectations with reality in the property market, leaving viewers to wonder if such high standards were even achievable.

A Place In The Sun airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 4 pm and is also available for streaming on channel4.com, offering fans a glimpse into the sometimes tumultuous journey of home hunting in beautiful locales.
