FamilyMart Celebrates Cat Day 2025 With Nyan Cat Success

Record sales and unique cat-themed products captivate fans and support welfare initiatives.

FamilyMart's recent collaboration with the popular Nyan Cat brand has proven to be highly successful, as the convenience store chain has reported extraordinary sales figures for its 2025 Cat Day campaign. Launched on February 18, the 'Famima x Nyan Cat' collaboration celebrated Cat Day on February 22 by rolling out over 21 themed products, which have quickly captured the attention of cat lovers across Japan.

Within just two days of opening sales, FamilyMart announced it had surpassed 200 million yen (approximately $1.8 million) in revenue from the campaign. This staggering figure reflects the growing popularity and cultural significance of Cat Day, celebrated annually on February 22. The initiative aims not only to engage customers through playful and nostalgic products but also to support local animal welfare efforts.

The campaign features a variety of unique items, including desserts and snacks, with several products drawing inspiration from feline themes. Among the most notable is the 'Happy Nyan' snack, created through collaboration with Kameda Seika, which showcases delightful flavors like cod butter. Enthusiastic customers have taken to social media to express their love for these items, with comments such as, “They are too cute not to buy!” and “I want these to be available forever!” echoing the sentiments of many.

Notable products include the 'Nyan Chijire' cream snack package, featuring whipped cream and caramel, and the adorable paw-print melon bread. Both offerings have appealed to taste buds and aesthetics alike, demonstrating the effective blend of creativity and culinary delight within the campaign.

Alongside the exciting product launch, FamilyMart is also taking steps to give back to the cat community. They have established pet food drives at select locations, encouraging customers to donate cat food to support local animal welfare organizations. Each participating store showcases paw prints leading to the donation boxes, making it easy for shoppers to contribute. The collected food will be donated to the Japan Animal Welfare Association.

The initiative has already garnered significant support, with numerous cat food donations reported within three days of establishment. Guest feedback reflects the positive response: “Knowing my purchase can help cats is just purr-fect!”, one customer remarked.

FamilyMart is also enhancing customer engagement through various promotions tied to the campaign. Notable is the chance for customers’ pets to appear on product packaging. By following FamilyMart's official account on social media and submitting photos of their cats, participants might find their pet's likeness illustrated by the renowned cat artist Coony, set to feature on summer releases.

Especially exciting is the 'Nyan Big Blanket' contest, where lucky winners will receive this sizable item featuring comfy pockets for cats. The blanket is spacious enough for both owner and pet to cuddle together, illustrating FamilyMart’s commitment to enhancing the bond between cats and their humans.

The community-centric aspect of the campaign not only boosts sales but also solidifies FamilyMart's reputation as a socially responsible retailer dedicated to animal welfare. The sales generated from the campaign will also contribute part of their proceeds to animal charity organizations, fueling local efforts for cat rescues.

With this collaboration marking the third consecutive year of FamilyMart focusing significant efforts on Cat Day, the brand is embracing the festive spirit with undeniable enthusiasm. With over 13 new products introduced this year alone and stellar sales figures, the 'Famima x Nyan Cat' collaboration exemplifies not just business success but also community engagement and care for cats.

Given the outcomes from this year’s Cat Day promotion, it is clear this is more than just another commercial effort; it is part of an enduring commitment to enrich lives—both human and feline.
