Family Travel And Tech Define Vietnam's 2025 Tourism Trends

Emerging preferences showcase Vietnamese tourists seeking relaxation and new experiences through digital platforms.

Tourism trends for 2025 are shifting dramatically, with family travel, relaxation, and technology integration at the forefront of change across Asia. This evolution is not only shaping vacation choices but also pushing travel agencies to adapt to new consumer preferences.

According to the latest survey from Agoda, the rising preference among tourists indicates increasing interest in family vacations, as "Càng đông càng vui: Du lịch cùng gia đình chiếm ưu thế." With 39% of Vietnamese tourists planning to travel with family, this highlights the growing trend of seeking quality time together away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The desire for relaxation is becoming the primary motivation for many travelers. Agoda's survey points out, "Nhu cầu thoát khỏi nhịp sống bận rộn là lý do chính thúc đẩy du khách"—as more individuals look to escape their busy lifestyles, relaxation-oriented trips are set to dominate travel plans. Notably, 65% of respondents prioritized relaxation, making it the leading reason for travel, surpassing cultural exploration and visiting relatives.

Meanwhile, entertainment parks continue to captivate the interest of tourists. The survey revealed, "Công viên giải trí trở thành điểm đến thu hút du khách", with attractions like Disney, Universal Studios, and numerous others becoming hot spots. This surge reflects broader regional trends, where visitors, especially from Indonesia, exhibit even higher enthusiasm for such entertainment experiences.

Adapting to these trends has led the Vietnamese tourism industry to explore new markets, including often-overlooked destinations like Uganda. Known for its rich biodiversity, Uganda presents unique opportunities for eco-tourism, which are promising for travel agencies seeking to diversify their offerings and attract adventurous travelers.

Technology plays an increasingly pivotal role in shaping travel experiences. The Agoda survey found out about 78% of Vietnamese travelers plan to utilize travel apps for organizing their trips, reinforcing the notion of convenience and informed decision-making through digital tools. This trend is echoed across the region; features like mobile payment options and the convenience of online planning have become integral to modern travel.

Recognizing these shifts, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism department reported, "Tỷ lệ hồ sơ trực tuyến cũng tăng 33% so với năm 2023". This shift highlights the growing reliance on digital applications within the tourism sector, reflecting broader societal changes toward online service usage.

The Deputy Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyễn Văn Dũng, emphasized the importance of diversifying tourist markets by saying, "Để đa dạng hóa thị trường khách, Thành phố đẩy mạnh hơn nữa chuyển đổi số". This approach not only aims at enhancing local tourism but also elevates Vietnam’s position within the competitive Asian tourism market.

With the positive outlook for tourism industry growth, aided by technological advances and changing consumer preferences, 2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year. The industry anticipates welcoming millions of international tourists, indicating recovery post-pandemic and new avenues for sustainable tourism practices.

Overall, the trends highlighted by recent surveys signal not only shifts within the Vietnamese tourism market but also reflect broader patterns throughout Asia. Family experiences, relaxation, and tech-savvy solutions will likely dominate the travel conversation, offering exciting opportunities for both travelers and the tourism industry.
