Fabian Reese's Journey Back To Fitness With Hertha BSC

The talented forward works diligently for his return after multiple setbacks following surgery.

Fabian Reese, the 27-year-old forward for Hertha BSC, is working diligently to make his comeback following a tough bout of injuries. With the pressure mounting as the team prepares for the Bundesliga restart on January 19, Reese’s progress has become the focal point of discussions among fans and team officials alike.

Reese has had quite the challenging year. After undergoing surgery on his ankle during the summer, he returned to action at the end of November but was quickly sidelined again due to persistent pain. "Das war die schwierigste Phase meiner Karriere," he shared with Bild and the Berliner Morgenpost, reflecting on this turbulent time.

Now at the training camp located at Benalup-Casas Viejas, near Cadiz, Spain, Reese is showing signs of progress. He has been participating not only in individual training sessions but has also begun joining his teammates for certain drills. "Ich schaue morgens mit Trainer Cristian Fiel und den Physios, wie der Fuß aussieht, was ich mir zutraue," he stated, indicating the cautious approach he takes alongside the medical staff.

Despite this positive development, the road to recovery is still long. Reese emphasizes the importance of patience, stating, "Ich habe mich bewusst von einem Zeitplan verabschiedet. Sonst hat man diesen Druck im Kopf, das Ziel zu erreichen oder zu unterbieten." He recognizes the pressure schedules can create, opting instead to focus on gradual improvements.

Medical professionals are playing a pivotal role during his rehabilitation process. Reese has been receiving treatment daily, sharing feedback about his foot's condition and adjusting the intensity of his exercises accordingly. "Ich versuche, bestmöglich zu arbeiten, um die Chance zu erhöhen, dass mein Körper schnellstmöglich wieder gesund wird," he reassured fans, hinting at his commitment to returning stronger.

Interestingly, Reese has also adopted unconventional methods to aid his recuperation, including stimulating his Vagus nerve through electrotherapy, which he claims promotes relaxation and reduces inflammation. "Neuerdings nutze ich kleine Stromschläge, um den Vagus-Nerv zu stimulieren. Das ist entzündungshemmend und fördert die Entspannung," he explained, detailing how he mixes modern recovery techniques with traditional methods.

This attention to his physical condition hints at his ambitious outlook. Even with uncertainty surrounding his return date, Reese remains hopeful about the second half of the season and is focused on supporting his team. "Ich bin Träumer. Aber noch bin ich nicht auf dem Feld, das Team muss daran glauben," he said, reflecting his desire to help Hertha reclaim their position as top contenders.

While it remains to be seen if Reese will be ready for the upcoming match against SC Paderborn, the club is clearly intent on avoiding any rush to get him back on the pitch too soon. It’s clear they see him as not just any player, but as potentially the key to achieving their long-term goals this season. Fans are encouraged to rally behind him as he fights to reclaim his place, one step at a time.

Reese's perseverance and positivity during this challenging time resonate deeply, reminding onlookers about the resilience athletes must cultivate amid adversity, ensuring when he does re-enter the field, it will be with the intention of making an impact.
