On December 23, 2023, NHK unveiled the much-anticipated lineup and song selections for the 75th NHK Red and White Song Battle, which is scheduled for New Year's Eve from 7:20 PM to 11:45 PM. This year's event promises a captivating show featuring both new and returning artists.
Making their debut this year, the Red Team will welcome ILLIT who will perform 'Magnetic,' tuki. with '晩餐歌', and ME:I showcasing 'Click.' The White Team includes Omoinotake with '幾億光年,' Creepy Nuts who will deliver 'Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,' and Kocchin Kentou with 'はいよろこんで.' Other standout performances include Da-iCE's 'I wonder' and TOMORROW X TOGETHER's '5時53分の空で見つけた君と僕 [Japanese Ver.]'.
Among the highlights is a collaboration with renowned artist Aiko, who will perform the theme song for this year's hit anime movie, 'Detective Conan: The Black Gate of the East,' titled '相思相愛.' There will also be a special message and illustration from Gosho Aoyama, the original creator of 'Detective Conan,' who will serve as a guest judge.
Hiroshi Gō will deliver a special stage named '2億4千万の瞳 放送100年 GO!GO!SP' to celebrate the 100th anniversary of NHK's broadcasting. This performance will include archival footage from NHK, featuring Gō as he time travels through historical moments captured by television. This unprecedented performance promises to dazzle viewers.
Another exciting collaboration on the Red Team includes performers Shiina Ringo and Momoko from Charan-Po-Rantan, who will present their duet 'ほぼ水の泡,' aimed at bringing joy and brightness as we welcome 2025.
JO1 will also be bringing their song 'Love seeker,' tied to the theme of searching for love. This year's performance includes the innovative 'LOVE heart' ball passing among members, with viewers voting on whose hand the ball ends up at the conclusion of their act.
Junretsu's song '夢みた果実' will connect with viewers this year through a special live broadcast. Their participation is particularly exciting, as they will be delivering their music directly to fans after receiving numerous requests for this live experience.
Celebrated artist Gen Hoshino returns for his tenth appearance, set to perform '地獄でなぜ悪い' through an intimate guitar arrangement, reflecting life's contradictions and the importance of moving forward with positivity.
Kaori Mizumori will appear with '鳥取砂丘～紅白ドミノチャレンジSP～,' again incorporating the domino challenge format, highlighting the beauty of Tottori Prefecture through the mesmerizing spectacle of falling dominos.
Three generations of entertainment collide as Hiroshi Miyama joins the fray with his '紅白×けん玉' act, pursuing the Guinness World Record for the longest line of consecutive kendama catches. With returning guest performers like TAEHYUN (from TOMORROW X TOGETHER) and DJ KOO (from TRF), this performance is expected to be both challenging and entertaining.
Yamauchi Keisuke, known for his miraculous collaborations with entertainers, is set to deliver Part Two of 'Yamauchi Keisuke × Comedian,' featuring comedic acts alongside traditional performance elements, promising to inject humor and excitement.
Green Yellow Society performs '僕らはいきものだから,' the theme for this year’s NHK National School Music Competition. Their collaboration with six middle schools from Kitakami City, Iwate, aims to send positive messages and encouragement to students facing the challenges of adolescence.
This year’s emcees will include Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Kanna Hashimoto, and announcer Saki Suzuki, marking the first time leading duo roles from NHK’s morning dramas will host such an event. Ariyoshi will take on his second consecutive year as the main host.
