Evelina Bledans Sparks Support For Children With Down Syndrome

As International Down Syndrome Day approaches, the actress advocates for inclusivity and plans events across Russia.

On March 21, 2025, Evelina Bledans, a well-known actress, presenter, and philanthropist, encourages everyone to wear brightly colored socks in support of children with special needs as part of the International Down Syndrome Day. This initiative aims not only to draw attention to the beauty and uniqueness of individuals with Down syndrome but also to promote inclusivity and acceptance in society. As part of her commitment, Bledans has planned several activities, including a performance in Tolyatti.

Bledans stated that, unlike previous years, she will be traveling to Tolyatti where she will perform in the play 'Love and Pigeons'. "This year, I’m in a different city for the International Down Syndrome Day, but before that, I’ll meet with children with special needs and their mothers, which is always a highlight for me." The actress and her team diligently prepare for this day each year, focusing on raising awareness and providing support for families of children with Down syndrome.

In a recent appearance on the show 'Live Healthy!', hosted by Elena Malysheva, Evelina performed a skit from their inclusive theater group, 'Osminozhki,' titled 'Caution, Street!'. The segment was aimed at educating both children and parents about road safety, highlighting the importance of creating a safe environment for all, regardless of their abilities. Bledans also spoke candidly about a challenging conversation she had with a fellow guest regarding her daughter’s decision about her pregnancy after a diagnosis of Down syndrome. "She believed her life would be ruined if her daughter gave birth to a child with Down syndrome," Bledans reflected. In a touching moment during the show, Bledans urged the woman to consider the value of every life, explaining that special children have their own unique gifts to offer.

For over 13 years, Bledans has actively advocated for children with special needs, working tirelessly to improve their living conditions and create opportunities for inclusion. Her son, Semyon, who also has Down syndrome, has been an inspiration in her journey. Each year, he performs at the Kremlin, showcasing the talents of children with special needs. "Every year since he was a child, Semyon and other children give concerts in the Kremlin. It’s incredible to see their growth and the joy they bring," said Bledans. This experience has fueled her passion to create a 'Sunny Island' for special people older than 18, where they can live happily and securely. “Semyon will be the head of this Sunny Island; he has excellent communication skills and understands people well. I envision a place where the environment is eco-friendly, and where these children can thrive,” she shared.

Bledans also addressed concerns regarding her health and wellbeing. While she does not particularly enjoy exercising, she ensures to prioritize her well-being. “I don’t like to work out, but I have to do it every day,” she admitted, emphasizing the need to maintain a balance between her lifestyle and health. She revealed her morning facial care routine, which includes using ice cubes made from herbal decoctions. “I usually mix chamomile and calendula, which helps tone the skin and heal inflammation,” she explained.

In addition to her skincare routine, Bledans has recently discovered the benefits of using coconut oil with herbs like eucalyptus and lemon. “Before going to bed, I swish a spoonful of this oil in my mouth for twenty minutes; it acts as an antiseptic and strengthens my gums,” she revealed. “This ritual is invigorating, and I believe it fills my body with vitamins.”

As a public figure, Bledans enjoys sharing her life with her followers, often posting dynamic photos in swimsuits that highlight her figure. However, she also reinforces her dedication to her causes. Bledans receives countless messages from admirers, including some who offer large sums for a dinner with her. “I refuse these offers because right now, I’m focused on my mission to enhance the lives of others, especially those living with Down syndrome,” she added, showcasing her commitment to her advocacy.

Reflecting on her challenging journey, Bledans acknowledges the hardships of her path. “For many years, I’ve worked on issues surrounding children with special needs. At times, I wished this ideal world could flourish on its own, allowing me to focus on my health.” Her determination to fight for a better future for children like her son shines through in every word. As she wraps up her preparations for International Down Syndrome Day, she remains committed to her mission, looking for sponsors and supporters to realize her dream of the Sunny Island. “With your help, we can create a happy adult life for special needs children. Perhaps a generous soul, like Emin Agalarov, will back us in this important cause,” Bledans concluded.
