Tickets for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place from May 12 to May 17 in Basel, Switzerland, are set to go on sale on January 29, 2025. To secure tickets this year, fans must pre-register, with registration already underway until January 10, 2025. This process aims to combat scalpers and bots, ensuring genuine fans have access to tickets. Pricing will range from CHF 40 to CHF 350, depending on the event and seating category.
The excitement surrounding ESC 2025 is building up as preparations gain momentum. The event marks the Eurovision Song Contest's return to Switzerland for the first time since 1989, and the city of Basel is gearing up to welcome music enthusiasts from across the globe. The official ticketing partner for this year’s event is TicketCorner, the Swiss ticketing platform responsible for handling ticket sales and registration.
“Welcome Home” is the motto for the contest, symbolizing not just the physical return of Eurovision events but also the overarching theme of unity and togetherness through music. Art Director Artur Deyneuve has introduced the visual identity titled “Unity Shapes Love,” reflecting Switzerland’s commitment to direct democracy and communal connections.
The visual identity includes pulsations of the Eurovision heart, which symbolizes dialogue and empathy among participants and audiences alike. This theme has been reinforced by Deyneuve's statement: “If we listen to one another, we find love.”
Adding to the festivities, the audio identity merges modern beats with traditional Swiss music elements, featuring instruments like the alphorn and yodelling. This innovative combination creates a vibrant atmosphere, blending energetic rhythms with familiar folk tones. According to Deyneuve, “We’ve crafted a track with pumping beats and surprising musical effects.”
Renowned Production Designer Florian Wieder, who has previously crafted stages for Eurovision, has drawn inspiration from Switzerland’s mountainous landscapes for the 2025 stage design. This year, he emphasizes creating “a holistic experience” for spectators, ensuring they feel included and engaged throughout the event.
Wieder, who has been involved with Eurovision design since 2011, remarked on his commitment to presenting something spectacular this time around, saying “This will be a revolutionary stage concept, unlike anything we’ve seen before at Eurovision.” With these efforts, organizers are striving to create memorable experiences for both participants and attendees.
The Grand Final will be hosted at the St. Jakobshalle, which can accommodate over 12,000 spectators. Fans will have the chance to watch performances over nine different shows during the competition, including two semi-finals and the grand finale itself.
Due to the overwhelming demand expected, pre-registration does not guarantee ticket purchase, and all aspiring attendees will need to log onto the TicketCorner website as tickets go on sale. The organizers are optimistic about the return of live audiences and have plans for alternative viewing events for fans unable to secure tickets.
Among these events, the “Arena Plus” public viewing will be held at St. Jakob Park on the Grand Final day, where fans will gather to cheer for their countries and experience the event as part of the larger community.
Local support for the event has also been heartening. National sponsors such as Novartis and Swisscom have joined forces to promote the Eurovision vision and festivities, enhancing the event's reach and engagement. The Swiss Federal Railways, SBB, announced plans to run 85 additional trains to accommodate visitors and provide eco-friendly transport options during the Eurovision week.
With the Semi-Final Draw set for January 28, 2025, the final lineup of performers will be determined shortly before the ticket sales. The draw will decide the order of performances for participating countries, adding even more anticipation to the upcoming event.
The 2025 edition of Eurovision promises to blend bold visuals, captivating music, and unparalleled energy, marking Switzerland’s homecoming celebration for the festival. Audiences are set to enjoy the interplay of past and modern musical traditions, showcasing the essence of unity through music—a core value of Eurovision.
“We are incredibly excited to host the Eurovision Song Contest here in Basel, and we believe this event will highlight Switzerland’s vibrant culture,” commented one of the event’s co-executive producers. The world will soon tune in to witness how this grand celebration of music unites people, creating laughter, joy, and, most significantly, love.
