The city of Essen is gearing up to host the highly anticipated Reise & Camping Messe from February 19 to February 23, 2025, promising to be the largest holiday fair in North Rhine-Westphalia. With around 750 exhibitors, the event will showcase everything from mobile homes and camping equipment to the latest technology for outdoor adventures. This gathering is set to be a vibrant hub for both avid campers and those seeking leisure travel options.
A notable feature of this year's event is the collaboration between various municipalities within the Kreis Wesel and Niederrhein Tourismus, which will collectively highlight the diverse tourism opportunities available to potential visitors. Among these municipalities is Schermbeck, which will present new attractive offerings through its certified park guides, available via appealing new flyers. "This certification is valuable for tourism in the Kreis Wesel! It allows us to strengthen our profile and engage visitors even more effectively," stated Lukas Hähnel, Director of the Economic Development Agency of Kreis Wesel.
The potential visitors will find plenty to explore at the Messe, as it creates an excellent platform to showcase the region’s tourist offerings. For example, Xanten will draw attention with its promotional events throughout the year, including the much-loved Wein- und Musikfest set to occur from May 9 to May 11, where local winemakers will join the festivities. Another highlight from this historical town is the Siegfriedspektakel, which promises excitement from May 29 to June 1, 2025, involving popular collaborators such as Sündenfrei.
Schermbeck is also eager to showcase its fresh status as a state-recognized spa resort. This recognition not only enhances the region's appeal but also assures visitors of its quality standards for relaxation and recreation. Attendees to the Messe can now access the Schermbeck Tourist Information Center conveniently located on the ground floor near the town hall, offering comprehensive insights about the area's attractions.
Meanwhile, Kamp-Lintfort 's booth will introduce various new experiences to the fair. Highlights include candlelit evening tours at the historic Kamp Abbey Church and updated exhibitions at the House of the Miner, which is now available for exploration without the need for guided tours. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the newly inaugurated KlosterWanderweg, which is approximately 10 kilometers long and presents insights about the history of Cistercian monks.
For connoisseurs of fine wine, Kamp-Lintfort is excited about the upcoming Wine Festival taking place over the Fronleichnams weekend, which promises to include special dining events centered on the delightful local wines.
Notably, the Reise & Camping Messe isn't the only big event drawing attention to Essen. Right after its conclusion, the Fahrrad Essen, dedicated to cycling enthusiasts, will kick off with around 200 exhibitors showcasing the latest trends and innovations related to cycling.
With all the exciting events planned, tourists and locals alike have much to look forward to at the Reise & Camping Messe, promising to boost interest and exploration of the many hidden gems within the Kreis Wesel region. Family-friendly attractions and informative sessions will undoubtedly lay the groundwork for memorable vacations and adventures this coming year. Mark the calendars for this February to embrace the adventure, leisure, and community spirit encapsulated within this year's Messe!
