According to Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation, the platform has already enrolled nearly 4,800 senior learners across 32 states and Union Territories, encompassing 505 districts. For example, Partha Baruah, 51, who runs both a farm and travel agency in Jorhat, Assam, has taken the Kisan drone operator course. This education has not only updated his agricultural practices but has also translated to breathtaking drone footage of Assam's scenery, which he’s leveraged to promote his travel business.
The enthusiasm for these courses highlights the versatility and adaptability of the senior demographic. Similarly, 55-year-old Prafulla Rawat, who works as a field technician and instructor at ITI Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan, pursued employability and entrepreneurship skills through the SIDH platform. He expressed hope for the platform to expand its offerings to multiple languages, particularly Hindi, enabling greater access for underserved populations.
Sanjiv Nigam, aged 54 and based in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi, found value through the Google Cloud Generative AI course offered by SIDH. He is now able to impart his knowledge about AI to his students, showcasing how the initiative is bridging gaps not just for individuals but also for the communities they belong to.
