Among those present was actress Izumi Kikukawa, who shared her heartfelt memories and reflections on Ogura’s life, her voice breaking with emotion.
During the ceremony, Kikukawa, visibly moved, told reporters, "The portrait had the best smile, it was calm and looked like he was having fun..." This statement encapsulated the feelings shared by many attendees who regarded Ogura not only as a colleague but as family.
Kikukawa's relationship with Ogura began when she joined the Fuji TV morning show "Information Presenter Tokudane!" as sub-host from 2012 to 2017. Recalling her last phone call with him around November 17, 2024, she mentioned, "He sounded so energetic at the time, always caring for those around him even during his own struggles." It was through the show's LINE group at around 3:00 AM on December 9, 2024, when Kikukawa first learned about Ogura's passing, which she described as shocking.
The ceremony was emceed by Shinbo Minowa, who reminisced about Ogura's unique ability to connect with the audience, saying, "Ogura was not only strict on set but also possessed such warmth and kindness. His presence was like family to those of us who knew him closely." The mood was bittersweet as precious memories of laughter and support shared were expressed poignantly through tears.
Among the emotional speakers was Kazunari Ninomiya, who reflected on his relationship with Ogura, describing him as “a father figure” to many of the young talents he had mentored throughout the years. Ninomiya’s voice trembled as he shared how Ogura often visited their concerts, cheering them on, stating, "It was like he was always there rooting for us. I still feel his presence even now."
During the event, music from Ogura’s band, Memory of the Future, from his school days played softly, contributing to the nostalgic atmosphere. Those gathered wore smiles through their tears, celebrating Ogura's life and his infectious spirit.
Izumi Kikukawa emphasized the significance of her time with Ogura, reflecting, "I’ve started to realize just how much love Ogura received from everyone around him. He was deeply passionate about what he did, and I wish I had acknowledged his greatness more at the time we shared together.” Her sentiments were echoed throughout the space as tears flowed freely, but memories exchanged brought comfort to many.
Attendants also presented flowers and personal tributes, including Kikukawa, who stated, “Please watch over us, have fun over there.” She encouraged everyone present to share their fond memories and to keep Ogura’s spirit alive through their continued work and laughter.
