TBS's renowned New Year's program, 'Sanma & Tamayo's New Year's Dream Special 2025,' is set to air on January 5, marking the 30th anniversary of the 'Dream Special' series. Known for fulfilling dreams of people from all walks of life, this year's show stays true to its concept of using television's power to make dreams come true.
This milestone year will feature the show's oldest participant to date, a 101-year-old grandmother, whose dream is to meet her favorite idol, Kimura Takuya. Surrounded by excitement and surprises, the production team successfully coordinates this heartwarming encounter.
The grandmother’s grandson submitted the dream, stating, "I want my 101-year-old grandmother to meet Kimura Takuya!" Kimura himself will make a surprise appearance during the show, creating unforgettable memories both for the grandmother and the audience witnessing her heartfelt reaction.
The team behind the show has devised spectacular surprises across multiple locations, including Gunma, Saitama, and Miyagi prefectures. These elaborate surprises will also involve unexpected features like helicopter arrivals, enhancing the grandeur of fulfilling dreams.
Further adding to the emotional richness of the special, the music group Mrs. GREEN APPLE will travel to Shiraoi, Hokkaido, to fulfill the dream of four children from a small school set to shutter down by March 2025. Their mother wishes for her children to make incredible memories with their favorite band. The children will experience joy and excitement as they interact with the band and sing together the classic tune "Que Sera, Sera" at the end of the day.
The theme of surprising the lucky participants continues with several unforgettable moments, one being the cooperation of prominent celebrities. A man who has continuously faced misfortune submitted his dream of appearing in net news, and the show has enlisted stars like Suzu Hirose and Riho Yoshioka to help bring this to fruition.
Also featured will be the story of the average-age 55 cheer dance team, who have always danced to "Dancing Hero." Wanting to dance alongside their idol, Yoko Oginome, they took on the challenge of learning the choreography typically learned over three months within just two weeks. Can they pull it off and impress everyone at the studio with their performance?
Host Akashiya Sanma and co-host Shinichiro Azumi (TBS announcer) will guide the audience through the event, inviting several studio guests, including Akira Kawashima (from the comedy duo Kirin), Shiori Sato, Kintaro Sekine, and Miki Fujimoto. There will also be appearances from various VTR guests, including renowned celebrities and artists, making appearances to help make dreams come true.
The show promises to deliver heartfelt stories and unforgettable moments, celebrating the joy and inspiration derived from pursuing one’s dreams. This spectacular culmination of 30 years of memories will undoubtedly set the tone for this year's New Year celebrations.
Tune in to witness the array of heartfelt gestures and emotional reunions on January 5th from 6 PM to 9 PM on TBS.
