Former Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell has opened up about her new relationship, just days after leaving the ITV soap. The actress, 21, played Amelia Spencer for thirteen years before her dramatic exit last week, when the character decided to leave the Yorkshire village for a new life following Tom King’s (James Chase) sentencing.
During a candid chat with Ranvir Singh on Lorraine last week, Daisy explained, "I didn’t see [my axing] coming." She added, "It’s been a really tough year and I’ve had to do loads of work on myself and put myself first. But I definitely feel like now I am in a place where I’ve healed. I definitely felt hurt. Taken aback really. Just shocked. I couldn’t stop shaking. But, you know, time’s passed and I put everything I had to the storyline because it was my last one."
Viewers saw her character reunite with her biological father Daz (Mark Jordon) and move to be closer to his brother Dan (Liam Fox), who raised her. Daisy also shared insight about her romantic life after her exit from the show. "Finding love just happens when you don’t expect it. I first met Nick at school, he was a couple of years above me," she revealed.
Her emotional year has transitioned to something brighter. "It wasn’t my decision to leave the show but I’ve become a big believer in things happening for a reason," she said. On Instagram, she paid tribute to her character: "13 whole years of Amelia Spencer! It’s been the hardest year of my life saying goodbye to Amelia and words cannot suffice how much this job has truly meant to me."
Reflecting on her experience, she stated, "Coming at the dales and playing Amelia as a baby to now ending her story as an adult is the biggest blessing so far in my career. Emmerdale has not just been my job, but my home and education. It’s where my whole childhood has been, and where I’ve been lucky enough to learn my craft from the most talented people." She added, "The hard work starts now and it’s time for the next challenge, and to push myself beyond." Daisy concluded, "Goodbye Emmerdale; I’ll always be thankful and grateful for everything you’ve shown, taught, and all the opportunities you’ve provided me!"
Meanwhile, Emmerdale’s Mack Boyd actor Lawrence Robb has delighted fans by reuniting with former co-star Jessie Elland. Taking to Instagram, the actor, 33, showcased his vocal skills as he duetted with Jessie, who played Chloe Harris on the hit ITV soap from 2021 until 2023. Posting a black-and-white video of their performance, Lawrence wrote, "Son of a Ho Ho ho it’s the time of year again. Merry crimbo you lot."
The duet featured the classic festive tune "White Christmas," with Lawrence also demonstrating impressive piano skills. The video received rave reviews from fans and co-stars alike. Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle Dingle, commented, "Oh you two!" Ash Palmisciano, who plays Matty Barton, added heart-eye emojis. Fans echoed their delight, with one saying, "Wasn't expecting this," and another saying, "Wow you guys have got beautiful voices. Hope you both have a wonderful Christmas!"
Jessie's character had exited the show dramatically last Christmas. During the show’s climactic scenes, Mack found himself in peril at the hands of villain Harry, who turned out to be Chloe's father. After Chloe sought help from her estranged dad following her split from Mack, who previously betrayed her for ex-Charity Dingle, the storyline reached fever pitch.
After almost dying, Chloe managed to escape with their son, Reuben, following Mack's emotional letdown. The dramatic plot saw Mack bidding farewell to his son as he let them leave to protect Charity. Lawrence's duet sparked nostalgia and happiness among fans, showing the close bonds forged on set.
Emmerdale airs every weekday at 19:30 on ITV1, ITV X, STV, and the STV Player, with hour-long episodes on Thursdays. Fans can also catch the series every morning from 07:00 on ITVX.
