In February 2025, Ukraine witnessed a remarkable shift in its automotive market, with electric vehicles dominating the imported used car segment. According to data from Ukravtoprom, a total of 4,200 imported used cars aged up to five years were purchased, with electric cars accounting for a staggering 50% of these registrations.
The overall registration figures for used cars in Ukraine during February reached 17,000. Notably, vehicles less than five years old constituted nearly a quarter of all registrations within this category. Electric vehicles took the lead, while gasoline cars and hybrids also showed significant interest among consumers.
Specifically, the breakdown of the market share among different types of vehicles was as follows: electric vehicles comprised 50%, gasoline cars represented 33%, hybrids were at 8%, diesel vehicles accounted for 7%, and cars equipped with LPG made up 2%.
This growing trend is indicative of a larger shift towards more environmentally friendly transportation options in Ukraine. A spokesperson for Ukravtoprom reflected on this development, stating, "In February, our data shows electric vehicles accounted for 50% of the imported second-hand car market in Ukraine." They further emphasized, "We are witnessing a significant growth in the electric vehicle segment, which now holds a substantial part of the market share."
The demand for specific models was quite pronounced during this period. Among the most popular choices for used vehicles were:
- TESLA Model Y - 430 registrations
- TESLA Model 3 - 285 registrations
- NISSAN Rogue - 129 registrations
- KIA Niro - 129 registrations
