India's energy future was the focus of ELECRAMA 2025, the largest electrical exhibition globally, held at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. With the ambitious target of achieving 800 GW of generation capacity by 2030—50% from renewable sources—the Indian power sector is asserting itself as a cornerstone for the country's advancement. Union Power Minister Manohar Lal inaugurated the event, emphasizing India's potential to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027 and a developed nation by 2047.
Organized by the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), ELECRAMA 2025 serves as a platform for industry stakeholders to engage, demonstrate innovations, and discuss pathways to meet growing energy needs. "The electrical and electronics manufacturing industry will be key in scaling clean energy, advancing grid modernization, and strengthening transmission networks," said Minister Lal.
India has already installed over 200 GW of renewable energy capacity, and the minister expressed confidence about reaching the proposed 500 GW target by 2030, thanks to collaborative efforts between the government and the industry.
Among the highlights of the event was ABB India launching the ‘LIORA’ range of modular switches, which are aimed at enhancing energy management for smart homes and commercial contexts. "At ELECRAMA 2025, we are showcasing the breadth of our technological offerings in India," stated Kiran Dutt, President of Electrification at ABB India, underscoring their commitment to local sourcing and energy efficiency.
Delta Electronics also showcased their new D-Bot series of Collaborative Robots (Cobots) during the event under the theme of Smart Manufacturing. These advanced robots aim to redefine production processes across varying industries. Niranjan Nayak, MD of Delta Electronics India, highlighted the significance of deploying these technologies to improve industrial efficiency and sustainability.
The underlying theme pervasive throughout ELECRAMA 2025 was the drive toward innovation and the need for advancements such as electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. Minister Lal indicated the necessity for battery-swapping stations and fast chargers to facilitate e-mobility, calling it “a very big opportunity.”
With over 1,100 exhibitors and the anticipation of more than 400,000 business visitors, the exhibition is generating substantial enthusiasm among key industry players. High-profile participants, including Oliver Blum from Schneider Electric and Matthias Rebellius from Siemens, spoke about India’s pivotal role in the global clean energy transition.
“India stands at a major inflection point, with digitalization and clean energy adoption reshaping its power sector,” said Rebellius, directing attention to the urgent need for investments in smart grids and automation.
The broader aim of ELECRAMA is to solidify India's position as a global leader in energy innovation. With over 15,000 anticipated buyer-seller meetings and USD 20 billion expected business inquiries, this year’s event reflects the increasing significance of India’s electrical market on the world stage.
Vikram Gandotra, chairman of ELECRAMA 2025, elaborated on the relevance of the event, stating, “We celebrate 10 years of ‘Make in India,’ showcasing India’s influence with initiatives fostering local manufacturing and technological advancements.”
Safety, efficiency, and aesthetics are integral to the new technologies presented at the exhibition. ABB’s LIORA modular switches feature various functionalities like USB charging sockets and key card switches, promising to meet modern standards of performance and convenience.
The introduction of Delta’s fast EV charger highlights the growing focus on sustainable infrastructure. Visitors at the Delta booth engaged with demonstrations illustrating intelligent infrastructure across multiple sectors, underscoring the collaborative spirit and innovative energy shifting pervading ELECRAMA 2025.
With discussions surrounding policy dialogues and technology showcases, ELECRAMA 2025 exemplifies how pivotal the power sector is to India's future. The collaboration between government and industry is pivotal to meeting the ambitious goals set forth, as India ventures firmly toward its clean energy aspirations.
The event not only celebrates the advancements already made within the electrical and electronics manufacturing sectors but also anticipates the challenges and transformations necessary to drive India’s development forward.
