Bandung is set for another exhilarating outdoor event as the city prepares to host the Tahura Trail Running Race 2025 (TTRR 2025) on January 25-26, 2025. This highly anticipated trail running competition--a pioneer event since 2013--will attract more than 3,600 participants from over 20 countries and various provinces across Indonesia. The TTRR promises to blend the thrill of outdoor sports with contributions to ecotourism and environmental sustainability.
The picturesque Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda, located north of Bandung, will serve as the backdrop for this year’s event, featuring challenging courses and breathtaking views. Each participant will have the opportunity to embrace the natural beauty of this lush forest reserve, which is known for its diverse flora and fauna.
Supporting this event is EIGER Tropical Adventure, which has officially unveiled its latest innovation, the EIGER ACT, during the TTRR 2025 press conference on January 21, 2025. Chief Operating Officer Mario Pratama described EIGER ACT as the culmination of over two years of extensive research and development conducted at EIGER's Innovation Lab.
Mario noted, “Born from the EIGER Innovation Lab in Bandung, thousands of hours of development and discussions with Eigerian consumers led to the creation of the new category called EIGER ACT. It’s where nature meets innovation.” This new product line aims to incorporate the best quality materials and stitching, tested by athletes across various sports and terrains.
The EIGER ACT line is particularly noteworthy for its focus on tropical climates, ensuring comfort and performance for outdoor activities. Nikki Novisca, the Product Manager for EIGER ACT, explained, “We have developed the collection to suit the tropical climate, impacting the materials we use.” The collection includes 38 distinct designs offered in multiple colors, marking its identity as unique and fresh.
Mario emphasized the societal shift toward health and outdoor activities seen after the pandemic, stating, “EIGER ACT encourages everyone to celebrate the message ‘every act matters.’ It celebrates new habits of moving, running, and engaging in sports, all with the urge to explore.” This was echoed by Race Director Ridwan Fauzi, who expressed pride over the collaboration between EIGER and the TTRR, emphasizing their mutual commitment to sports, environment, and community.
TTRR 2025 will feature diverse race categories, including family runs, 10 km, and marathons of up to 42 km. The routes will take participants through scenic trails, across pristine rivers, and varied terrains, ensuring each race is not only challenging but also visually stunning. Runners are expected to navigate through dirt paths, gravel, rocks, and even grass surfaces, along with asphalt.
Additionally, all participants will receive tree seedlings to take home or plant within the Tahura area, reinforcing the event's conservation goals under the slogan “One Runner, One Tree.” This initiative aims to promote forest preservation and sustainability.
With over 3,600 registered participants from 20 countries, including the USA, Japan, and Brazil, the event's international appeal is undeniable. The TTRR lies within the Asia Trail Master Series, recognized globally, and has been instrumental for trail running enthusiasts.
Ridwan highlighted the importance of local economic empowerment through this event. “Producing this activity fully involves local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local brands to boost the local economy,” he stated, showcasing the commitment to integrate community development and sporting events.
Previous editions have established TTRR as one of the premier trail races within Indonesia, and the 2025 edition promises to maintain its legacy of inclusivity and environmental stewardship. Taufik Hidayat from the organizing committee noted, “This competition stands as one of the best trail runs and carries messages of inclusivity and conservation, engaging everyone according to the spirit of EIGER ACT.”
The excitement surrounding the TTRR is palpable as participants prepare for what's pitching to be the best edition yet, combining athletic prowess with environmental love and cultural immersion. The interspersion of local arts and conservation actions through running is something truly special, making this event not just a race but a holistic celebration of nature and community spirit.
The event is poised to inspire athletes and adventurers alike, offering them both the thrill of the run and the satisfaction of contributing positively to the environment and local community.
